goodyear duratrac reviews please

Has anyone hauled a sled deck with sleds using these tires?

I had them once on my old Nissan Titan and loved them when I was not hauling anything. However, once I towed with them they swayed/wandered so bad I thought I had a flat tire.

I assume the sidewall flex is where they get the great winter traction from but huge negative if towing an enclosed trailer or sled deck.

Not my experience at all. I have dura tracs, "factory" wheels and original equipment tire size, on a F350 crew cab long bed and pull a 26' enclosed trailer. Does not wobble / side to side for me and great traction snow and ice and run truck on long dry highway flats and steep icy/snow covered mountain roads.

Running 285 75 16's on my 2500HD Duramax. Great off rode snow and ice tire, I worked them hard during hunting season as well. Sidewall does have a little more flex than comparable E-rated tires but I got used to it quickly. The only issue I had was that I had two out of the original four that just wouldn't balance, after three tries and 7000 miles Discount gave me two new Duratracs. All is good now. If you wanted to run a winter and summer set of tires, I would go with the Duratracs studded in winter and the hankooks in the summer. I've got the Hankooks on my 95 Ford and they wear like iron, very happy with them as well.

The reason these tires feel like mush as mentioned above is due to the lack of a heavy duty sidewall. The duratrac is a good looking tire that has great snow traction i have heard. Alternately,The Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor is a 10 ply tire load rated E that has a Heavy Duty Kevlar sidewall that is much better for carrying loads. The tire also has a snowflake on the sidewall signifying its superior snow traction. I am on my second set of Silent Armor tires. 1st set went with my Toyota Tacoma I traded for my Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins- no sidewall flex with these using a sled deck.

duratrac is also avalible in a LRE and studable unlike the silent armor.

and for what its worth, it and all tires today that are LRE are 10 ply equivalent when compared to the old bias ply tires, they no longer have 10 actual plies more like 2

Fed Ex just dropped off 3 brand spankin' new Duratrac's, 4th one is missing in action, and I think I may have over done it a little. Went with 315/70-17's for my Megacab, have a level kit on the way for it, and look considerably bigger than the 295's I'm used to running. Can't wait to get them mounted up on the new rims and see if I like them, didn't have much choice as there's a nationwide backorder on the 285's and they weren't available in 295's, thinkin now I should have went with the smaller 275's.

Awesome looking tire!!

Have them on my duramax with sled deck. 275/65/20s.
Have about 8k on them so far.

First trip pulling a 5 place enclosed to washington through snow/rain. Bout died the first 60 mph corner i tried to take at 75... tire was way softer on the corner than nittos i had on there. After that i was prepared for it and able to drive accordingly.

With sleds on the deck i can feel it being a little softer than i would like, which has slowed me down a little. Thats ok, its helping fuel mileage. :face-icon-small-win But the tire preforms so well on snow/ice/mud that its worth slowing down a little.

tuff to swallow $300 a tire for maybe 30k miles... trucks are more expensive than sleds!

I noticed the softer side wall just when moving them around in the garage, unmounted. I better get used to easing off the go pedal going around corners.

I put them on my f350 last year.Have a 8'x9' flatbed with air bags and has turned out to be a great combo.Best snow tire I have ever used

I just put a set of Cooper "full on" snow tires on my truck.

Lets just say I wish I'd have held out for studded Duratracs.

These tires work ok on slick roads but have no bite in the snow if its deeper than 6".

I think those Duratracs are one of the best tires ever made based on the experience I had running them on my work truck.

Love them duratrac 275 70 18 on my duramax 2011 i run air up alittle 65 psi or so have no complaints yes I had to get use to alittle soft action on corners but now use to it and drive same as in the summer stock tires. I pull a 4 place trailer I lose maybe 1/2 to 1 mpg with these tires but they go through snow great!

So I have a Duramax and haul a heavy 27' enclosed. The skecthy cornering aspect has me a little scared. Was going to put them on my truck next week but now I don't know. Do airbags help at all with the sway? Is there another good snow and ice tire that handles better with weight?

I've had 3 sets of 315/75R16 Toyo M/T's on my F250 and F350 SD's. Got 45K plus out of each set. Last winter put a set of studded 315 Duratracs on. Excellent traction and ride. Had a deck and also pulled my G/N horse trailer and G/N 20K flatbed trailer. When winter was over, I put my M/T's back on. Wow! All summer long, all I could think of was these tires ride like crap compared to my Duratracs. I was sure glad when Nov. came around so I could put back my good tires on.
Also have a set of non studded Duratracs on my wife's 08 4Runner. Don't get quite as good of fuel economy and they are a little bit noisier than the street treads that were on there before, but they look gnarly and perform very well. In fact I have a set of studded snow tires for this rig and I'm not sure if I'm gonna put them on or not.

Bottom line, I have to buy another set of tires next spring and if I buy a new set it will def. be Duratracs. Love 'em.

I wouldnt worry about the cornering thing. They are great tires. We have them on our duramax and i pull a 32ft. fifth wheel just fine and also a 30ft enclosed trailer. These tires are amazing just make sure you rotate them often. i wouldnt go any other way

What about siping? Are you guys doing the extra siping? Some say extra siping is bad on the diesels cause the torque just chews them up. I have toyo mt's 35x12.5x18 and I only got about 30K on them, they were very noisy, hard to balance but had ok traction. I rotated every 3k on the button and always do. I was also looking at the new falkens. Read some reviews online and heard similar results with soft sidewalls but very good traction with the duratecs.

Thats crazy only getting 30k. Ive got about 64,000 on my set right now. 3/4 megacab diesel and i dont drive nice. Ill get new tires this summer probably. Still have enough tread left to get me through this winter. These duratracs have awesome reviews for traction but i havent seen a good review yet for tread life. On my toyos ive never had a flat or problems with traction and long tread life. 35x12.5x20

duratracs

My work truck is a 2011 F250 gas and I run the stock sizing 265/70/17 dura tracs . A lot of highway miles along with a lot of offroad into leases etc. Ijust changed them out at 74,000.

I figured that was pretty darn good.

I have them on two trucks... Including an 06 LTZ... (235/85/16's)
37,000 and going strong... still about 1/2 tread left...No exaggerated body roll or pushing in the corners, and that is a tall tire (85 series)... I do keep the pressure up though.

Geoff, Those are E rated tires...What do you have them inflated to??

Did you have the Terra Grapplers before?
The Duratracks have deeper tread.. maybe some more roll till you wear them down to the starting depth of the Nittos.

What kind of pressure do you run? You must be doing something right cause I've never seen the toyo mt's get that kind of life. I have had three sets on two different trucks and seen similar results. They are my favorite looking tire though for my truck at least.
