you can sure tell who are pot heads on the 4m

Or those that are not, and do not see the sense of having the devil weed as an illegal drug. The arguments can go on forever (pro/con). But the fact is that it is not going away, I don't smoke it, but trying to continue to prosecute those that do is rediculous.

It should be taxed and controlled. Just because the laws currently make it a misdemeanor for under a certain amount (Colorado), that will not stop people stop from smoking it or growing it.

Social issues, sure there are those. But no matter what is legal and illegal, people that use these means for "self medication" will continue with their problems without the proper help. You cannot blame a medical condition on the vises that are out there.

The war on drugs should continue for Meth, Cocaine and other hard drugs.

Oh, I have an AARP card, don't trust anybody over 60 man.

You forget alcohol has another use. It tastes good. It works well with food etc. There is only one use for pot. When one uses alcohol as a drug one will faces the same consequences. I will not argue that alot of money is spent fighting drugs. I am saying as a parent who went through hell and ultimately had a marriage fail because of it, it is worth the cost. Rehab is $10,000/month on the cheap side. A few cents extra taxes for drug interdiction is well worth it. Everyone here that is pro drug makes the argument that drugs are not that bad. Well I know differently. They have a real cost to society in terms of accidents, lost productivity, theft, unemployment etc. Our jails are not only filled with drug users. They are filled with people with emotional troubles that grabbed the wrong tool to deal with them. As a result, they got caught stealing, dealing, murdering, assulting, etc. Almost all crimes are drug related. Double standard? You bet. Everyone has the liquor cabinet. As soon as pot is leagalized are you installing your walk in humidor? I bet not. I bet it still gets hidden in s small box in the closet. Clearly society has a clear division of what is acceptable and not.

We certainly do drop billions on drug wars. We also drop billions on social programs, defense, social security, and NASA. Are they worth it? I say certainly.

Your cost arguement falls on the deaf ears of a man who who saved the life of his ex wife four times from alchol poisoning. A process that started with pot 20 years ago. So don't give me any bullsh!t that I didn't read the ramblings in a snowest forum. I walked one hell of a walk...amateur....

Relax and have another drink kind sir. You just added your own ramblings!

Just wondering........... have you ever smoked weed? Remember this is a discussion about legalizing pot not other drugs. Our jails and prison are filled with mentally unbalanced who show overwhelming propensity for Sociopathic behaviors, acerbated by Alcohol, Meth and opiates. Pot use has no strong link in this equation accept that it is illegal, therefore considered contraband. Criminals who sell and distribute contraband sell pot too. Legalize weed and you are still left over with the 90% of the same bad guys going to prison for drug offenses. Weed is only bad because the Government says so. It is simple cause and effect.

not a smoker but I imagine part of the appeal could be the ritual of it....the relaxing that leads to it. Kinda like an old man who has his after dinner pipe in the lounge with his favorite sweater on.

Course by your ideals, I'm a weak human. I do drink to relax and escape life. Yep every night I like to sit down after dinner and enjoy a nice beer of various styles. Just one, maybe two. I open the top and hear the hiss, then I choose my glassware and begin to pour the beer.

I marvel at and inspect the pour, the color of the beer and the formation of the head. Then I stick my nose down and smell the aromas and try and place them.

Next I take a sip and let it savor on my palate and find the different tastes and proceed to enjoy the creation of the beer.

Yep just one, so for me the alcohol really doens't affect my reality, but taking the time to enjoy and appreciate the creation and work that went into it helps me to escape and unwind from the day just a little bit.

Wow, I'm a long time smoker (can't stand beer), but after reading this I almost feel like having a cold one:)
p.s. I talked to my doctor about smoking, and he said to look into vaporizing weed. you cut out all the bad chemicals that are caused from the burning...not to mention I have more energy, use less product, and better buzz. He said that asprin has more side effects!

You really think it is the pot heads that are making the argument? Most smokers are smart enough not to say anything because of the stigmatizism associated with being a "toker". Just look on here... people that are perceived as users are quickly labeled a "stoner" or a "pot head". They realize this, and stay in the background unwilling to say anything.

FYI, it seems that the ones with a more colorful past are the ones making the argument... cough cough.... ;) ;)

Something to keep in mind is that weed is just a plant. Humans have physiological chemical responses to everything, and pyschological responses to everything.... we react, we change, we think, we interpret....

Strip the loaded labels away from this discussion and the differences become smaller. Though, it requires a more open mind, and a willingness to accept behavior of others that you don't deem acceptable for yourself.

On another note, there a psychological issues the manifest themselves through the use of drugs both legal and illegal. The drugs are not the issue, they are the mechanism.... The root issue is always the head / brain / emotions....

Try and look at it this way.
When I was in highschool it was WAY easier to get pot then liquor.
There is no age limit on buying illegal drugs but there is on booze and it's much harder for a juvenal to get.

Wow Ollie you and I finally see eye to eye on something.....and it's about weed!
That's HI-Larious.

Really? Enlighten us?

PICK ME! PICK ME!:D

So you are saying that I am lacking in intelligence because I am reluctant to be stigmatized (hope it doesn't hurt)? Maybe that my years of abusing the green weed has diminished my brain capacity? That being labeled a 'stoner' or a 'pot head' would somehow prevent me from voicing my opinion? That somehow "toker" equates to second class citizen? :face-icon-small-dis

So many question, so much hate and discontent. So much conjecture with so little fact, knowledge and understanding.

Bubba, thanks for the amusing read. I am going back to my new home now. A place far, far away from the trash bin!:)

Not at all friend...... Just that most smokers that are ordinary people with ordinary jobs, aren't the ones with bumper stickers saying "420" on them.... they aren't out there looking to draw attention to themselves, which tends to happen with the pro-420 argument...

Obviosly it doesn't prevent you from voicing your opinion, and as you should be able to tell, it doesn't prevent me from voicing mine...

You are correct though, to many people, being labeled a "toker" does equate to being a second class citizen, or at least respect and credibility decrease... sadly I think it does happen and is true especially with the very anti-420 crowd.
