Good, bad, the ugly about Blue Marble oil in an '09 800r?

from what i hear its just expensive and doenst add hp like they claim. i use AMSOIL and i couldnt be any more happier with it.

run the skidoo mineral oil, after one season with 2 sleds one on skidoo mineral and the other skidoo synthetic (which costs more) the pistons looked the same, the advice i got from a well know skidoo guru told me to run the mineral and use the $ i save to put gas in the tank. I also have 2 cats and all I run in them is blue marble. I ran redline synthetic before i ported my rev and that worked fine. Dont know why i ran it but now i know and run skidoo mineral oil and have around 12 grand in my rev. JMO.:D I never heard of anybody running blue marble in their doos only cats. save 10 bucks a gallon and run the mineral...

i used BM in my rev, and then i realized that your throwing your money away. I now use lucas semi synthetic and its 20 a gallon....:D

There was an old thread on oil, and if i remeber correctly some oil tech guy said as long as its petroleum based its good to go

satisfied with Blue Marble

I've been using Blue Marble in 3 of my 5 Skidoos for 4 years now, I tend to believe their claims about what it will do, Snowtech magazine tested Blue Marble and they found that all other things equal it gave 10% better fuel economy (because of reduced friction), emissions were reduced, Rave valves had less deposits, and after 2 or 3 tanks of fuel there was a noticeable increase in performance. My 02 700 has had Blue Marble since new, after 2000 miles there are zero carbon deposits on the Rave valves and the tops of the pistons are clean and shiny and there are no exhaust stains on the belly pan, I am very satisfied with it. My other 2 sleds are lower HP motors and I am using Injex in them with excellent results also, the 94 583 has about 8000 miles on it and has only lost 1# of compression since new. A couple years ago I told the local performance shop about Blue Marble and he is now a firm believer and sells more Blue Marble than anything else.

BM in 2 DOOs for 6 years. Clean engine and Rave valves, no smoke, no smell and had to lower engine idle after a few tanks.

Seems like BM and Amsoil (I) are about the same cost - at least where I bought some this week.

I'm new to this, so can't add much testimonial from personal experience, but the guy I bought my 03 SD Summit 600 started w/ the Doo oil, and switched to BM a couple yrs ago @ the suggestion of the lead tech @ a local dealer. Aside from the (alleged) performance and protection claims, this guy said it smells WAY beter than the SD oil. Better mileage is also a + (again - allegedly)

I'm sticking w/ it after reading the news and articles (available on the BM website), and also I didn't want to mix/change the oil.

Unless you're riding 2-3k mi. / yr. the $ difference is really not that big - especially if you do get better mileage. And it makes sense to do anything possible to protect the engine/valves/etc. in your 10+k toy.

yep mineral oil is the best oil you can run for the money. ive got 6500 kms on a 600 that has been ran and 800 with just about 4000 miles ran the bag off still going both with orginal motors, i have basically rebuilt the sled around the motor its been ridden hard. yea blue marble is a mineral oil from what i understand a buddy of mine was running it but the only difference imo was the color and the price was ridiculous apparently that redline oil your talking about is the best but you got to take a loan to buy it.

Don't use anything but XPS. My motor guy used to run Amsoil until he saw what it does to cranks. XPS is formulated for Rotax engines and high output 2 strokes. As a ski-doo dealer, we wouldnt warranty cranks if you didnt run XPS.
