Gonnason's Boats no longer a Ski-Doo Dealer??

Coyotegirl....Honda has "Powerhouse" stores, which are basically a factory dealer and they are a smashing failure.

The manufacturers have a tendency to live in a dreamland where they think when sleds are moving, the dealerships are making money. Anyone in the business will agree that this is far from the truth. On the other hand, they also do not care if you have to give the product away because they make the same amount regardless of what the selling price is because they DO NOT negotiate on the wholesale price.

BRP is very likely to be in a huge class action lawsuit due to their bullying the dealers in to bankrupcy.

In my opinion, if the factory owned the dealerships, the prices would definitely be higher.

It is very unfortunate what transpired between BRP and Gonnason's.

If you need any help with delivery of a sno-check sled I know Steel Dreams will go out of their way to accomodate any of Jeff's customers.

I'm sure if you ask Jeff he would recomend Gregg and Steel Dreams in a heartbeat.

i-90 motorsports and ride motorsports said they will honor jeff's prices on the sno checks. but i dont know how they will do on trades. call remko or curt at i-90. anthony at ride. good luck to jeff and his family. ed

Thanks Ed,
We would honor Jeffs prices on snow check sleds, and also be willing to help out any of his old customers with warranty problems, or recalls on past years sleds. We are also a stocking dealer of Klim & Skidoo acc's and will help out with warranty on klim gear as well.
thanks,

Remko,

This isnt something new Doo has been doing to dealers...A friend of mine had issues with Doo about 4 years ago- in that Doo wanted them to carry a TON of inventory in a very rural place....they said uh gosh how are we supposed to afford this? Doo said well too bad then- you're not dealing our product any longer.....

In Washington there are actually some good laws that protect the dealers. The manufacturer cannot just pull the dealership unless their are serious financial issues.

For some reason the american manufacturers feel the need to force product on their dealers. Honda is the only japanese manufacturer that employes some of these tactics, but not nearly as harshly.

the truth?

I would say this much..we all want our stuff for the rock bottom price..many of us here are probly in business for ourselves and know that anything we take off our price..comes right off the bottom line, we cant lower our overhead for one job, nor can they for one sled, or whatever. We all want the lowest price and our stuff fixed first, cause hey we are special right...and unfornutenalty, and many of you know it is the truth..those ski-doos of ours we have wanted to the front of the fix it line for the last few years. I am pretty sure that between the last few years of sleds with problems, coupled with the volume of recalls that ski - doo's have needed, along with a slow economy it just does not make sense. I give much respect to Jeff and my hats off to him and the crew down there. If you want your dealers to stay in business dont bag on them for not selling under their cost and then get on this site and rip them apart for them not trying to get you to the front of the service line. These guys are just like most of us..trying to put food on the table one way or the other, and to take on hundreds of thousands..(that would only be just over 10 sleds) and only have a window of about 4 months to move the product well..you can understand the pressure. Thanks for the years of service Jeff.
Sorry for the long type..someone had to say it.

word through the grapevine is that BRP audited Gonnason's and found some serious discrepancies and that BRP shut them down as a BRP dealer. I dont know any more than that...and its second hand info, but from a reliable source in the industry...FWIW.

Gonnason's has been a Ski-Doo dealer for 35 years. During that time they have been great supporters of this sport we all love. I'd ask that we show some respect. I think they've earned it.

Our family has been buying sleds from Gonnason's since the early 70's. It was with great sadness to hear the news. As a business owner in times like we face today it's a matter of digging deep and doing everything possible to be a survivor no matter how crappy the decision has to be. I wish you and your family the best Jeff, hang in there, this too will change.

Ron
