GOLDEN,Vandalism?

Well this really sucks. I was planning to ride at Quartz after Christmas on the way to Revy. Now if I do, I don't think I will enjoy it as much having to worry about vehicles getting broken into. Let's get these fuggers! :face-icon-small-fro

Rode Gorman today. Trail up was not to bad, some icy corners. Couldn't really see much all day, flurries all day. The lady there handing out trail passes stayed pretty much all day till people started coming down.

rode Silent today with no issues at the vehicles(that i know of anyways) . Good first ride on the Nytro. really good snow for " not having any " .
still quite a few rocks showing, but no damage to anyone that i saw.

****ty deal

Hey guys. Was directed to this thread from another sled forum on biglines.com, had heard this theft and vandelism was going on but had no idea to this extent. I live in Golden, have almost all my life, just wanted to add a few points to this discussion.

My partner owns a business in Golden, our winter clientele includes a lot of sledders, both local and from out of town. It is obviously alarming to us when we hear talk of everyone riding elsewhere because of the recent thefts and vandalism. Sledders make up a huge part of this towns economy, the impact would be felt throughout the town if we lost all your visits. I would say I am going to call the police myself tomorrow to make sure something is being done about it, but I have a feeling it would be both fruitless and frusterating. The thing I can't understand is that if stolen credit cards were used at local (couldn't be Napa, we don't have one)and Calgary business', this must be a huge lead on the case for the RCMP? At our business there is a strict photo id policy on all credit card transactions. I wonder if the culprit actually went to Calgary and used the card, or if it was an over the phone transaction and the card was just keyed into the pos machine, or even internet for that matter.....

In the short term I wish there was more that I could do to help the situation. I am going to keep my ears wide open and see what local info I can drum up, I have heard some chit chat already about possible local culprits, nothing solid at this point however.

The whole point of my post would be this - please don't let a few *******s paint an image for you about our whole community. Lets do what we can together to catch these *******s, if puting a few bucks each towards a lot attendant does it one day at a time that is a reasonable short term fix, heck, I paid 8 bucks to park outside of Cowboys one night and still had my truck cleaned out.

I guess on behalf of everyone in town, sorry this **** is going on and I hope it stops really soon. More snow in the forecast so keep coming out, just be a bit more proactive in the parking lots for a bit and wait for these idiots to get caught.

Cheers, Nate

Cabelas has scouting cameras with no flash and infared capabilities for the cost of an avalanche beacon. Best insurance would be to catch some aholes.

Should start a reward fund, reward to anyone that catchs the thieves on film and they get convicted, maybe extra if they get beat up. My thoughts.

Pretty sure that's a Quadra.....at least it used to be, total chance I could be wrong. Golden Snowmobile Rentals is in the old Napa building, maybe they moved across the street.....

Nope its a NAPA right across from GSR. I talked to my buddy and he told me that he knows some locals too and they herd it too was a local punks also.

We were parked near the rest stop east of Quartz on Dec.8 and they took out the side window. Lucky that we all took our wallets and stuff but they got two new Kilm jackets and a new belt....bastards.Even with the window tarped up it was pretty cold, well at least the beer stayed cold for the trip home.

Any word on this? The snowmobile club was supposed to have a meeting to look at solutions. Do they have a plan? I'd like to go back to silent over the holidays but on my last trip my buddy lost a window.

i have heard some things lately that might lead me to believ it's gonna stop.................... a guy was witnessed at the subway, he seemed a little restless & figity while ordering food, he had a cut on his hand & had said he was up riding at silent that day but got hurt & had to come down early. he was driving a little pos car(not sure of color or make). now i have also heard that that day, one of the vehicles broke into had blood on the window. no reports of any problems in the past week or 10 days now!!!! is it all the same guy? not sure yet.

hopefully it was him & they track him down .-

If that was the 14th at Silent I can vouch for the blood part of the story, it was on my buddy's truck next to his broken window. Glad to hear it's slowed down.

what other areas are they hitting, i heard blue lake had a couple hits.

catch the f*****s, hang them by there eye lids and kick them in the balls til they blink:mad:

hopefully they find these pricks.....

under a snowbank during spring melt.

Anyone have any new news on this issue? We're hoping to come out for the 28th but don't want our sh!t fugged with. If it's not resolved, its off to Cranbrook instead. Anyone talk to the club? Any more thefts recently? Are the ticket booth attendants staying around til the end of the day for a "nominal" fee?

Any help is appreciated.
