hey man, i hate to think that too, but a guy has to look at every possibility. there's a few "boarders" that are a little sketchy around town. I would be "pressing" the Napa that the cards were used at. They know everybody around town & should know who's suspicious. The fact that the cops aren't doing **** is no surprise there.

Yeah T-Bone. I know what you are saying. Probably not the groomer, but it could be some other sledders, which would really be a shame. I;ve never understood why ppl feel the need to help themselves to something that doesn't belong to them? Is it a sense of entitlement? All I can say is it wouldn't be pretty if I caught someone in the act breaking into my stuff or some other sledders stuff, at 6'0 and 220, I'm not overly petite......

My buddy did send an email to the Golden sled club, no word back yet. I know that we discussed it and we would be willing to pay another $5-10 per day to have a peace of mind that my new truck wasn't getting smashed while we were out riding.

This is no way a reflection on the locals, we sled there and they have all been good to us, this is one case where ppl should not judge the majority based on the actions of the minority. There are some locals just as pissed off about this as us non-residents. Let's work together to catch these fuggers. Any locals reading this, can you put the word out? Golden ain't that big. Talk to the businesses, make sure they are checking names and sigs on credit cards, etc. If they know "Bob", and he hands them a card with "Joe" on it, doesn't take much to put 2 and 2 together.......

I got a response from the trail society and they have a meeting planned with the club to come up with a plan. They didn't say when but I would assume they not going to sit on this for long. I'm sure any loss of money from trail fees would hit them pretty quick when it comes to maintenance and their operating costs on the equipment.
Maybe someone can loan me their BC plates for the weekend just for the parking lot

The club dont own the groomer,they just pay for it every time it goes out,and as far as suspecting the groomer of vandalism,I'm pretty sure he has alberta plates as well.I would be willing to offer my heated trailer and nonregistered firearms to some volunteers for a stake out but if its sunny i would have to leave yous behind to go RIDE.

The thefts that happened on monday at quartz the club was collecting fees till 2:30 cause the trail was groomed sunday night. Dad's group got back about 4. I'd say it be nice to find these guys at silent...they'd have a nice hike back to the highway

We were seriously thinking of planning a trip up.....but there is NO way I'm going to a place that I'd have to worry the whole time about our stuff. There are enough costs as it is, let alone having to worry about broken or stolen items.

I certainly hope something can be done about this. Cameras would be great! Also would be good for sledders to catch the vermin in the act.

Not to be rude, but ill drive the little extra till they figure out what is going on. Why not have the booth like 25ft off the hwy as u drive in and you have to sign in(name,Addy, DL #, Licence plate and vehicle info.)Just a thought. I dont want my newer truck broken into. Its not cheap to go out for a weekend as it is. Average cost is from 500+ for a weekend of sleddin plus the cost of your sled. You know i wont take my chances. Sorry for trying to support your town.Just my 2 cents, sorry for the rant.

This is terrible. Me and a couple of my buddies have been driving out to golden from Southeast Sask and this year i wasn't able to go with. It turns out they got the truck broke into, two wallets stolen and the windows busted out. With the way that i've been hearing stories on this thread I doubt i'll be heading there again. That's really too bad cause golden is such a nice place.

Rode Quartz Creek this afternoon. Trail was in great shape, up top they really need some new snow. Chick at the Petro said it hasen't snow'd since last weekend. Still some fresh, just have to look for it. Playing in the trees was ok. Climbing the open faced hills wasn't to sh*t hot. Other than that it was a good first ride.

So maybe a trap needs to be set at Quartz, Slient or Gorman to try and catch the fuggers pullin' this crap. Replace the hunting rifle or bow with a video camera. When the fuggers are caught and detained just tell the RC's that no more force than necessary was used to protect oneself and detain the bad guys. Teach them that theft and vandalism HURTS!

More bad news! My group rode Silent Pass today and the riding was great but three trucks with smashed windows today. One had wallets and the keys stolen too. Stupid to leave them in the truck but anyway these guys are in rough shape. Had to leave their truck and sleds up there. We gave them a ride out but I'm sure they are still trying to get out. Absolute crap! I've been riding here and spending my money in this town for over 10 years. We are coming home tommorrow and likely not coming back! Doesn't seem like anyone is to concerned here other than us tourists.

I think the Bonds (MOTOTECH) quit the snoclub and she's fallin apart,havent heard who's taking it over.

After years of dedicated service and hard work the Bauns stepped down when they were the only 2 at the first meeting of the year ( I am as guilty as anyone for not being more involved, but it is difficult when only a few people attend each meeting and everyone you see complains about everything the club is not doing for them); thank you Randy and Dawn for all you have done, it is time for someone else to step up and it is my understanding that this has happened. I will try my best to make it to the next meeting (I still have to buy my membership as well).
The onus for security should not rest with the club anyway, the club should be about planning fun family oriented events.

The Grooming society is a seperate entity whos mandate is to serve the interests of the riders, they are the ones who need to step up and deal with this issue.

Stake out. Only way to catch them. Vidio camera in tree, remote watch from inside an old VW camper with a save the planet bumper sticker on it. Just my .02 Can not relie on any body else if you want it done right you have to do it yourself.
