Gloves-which ones last

The last two seasons I have used the Klim Tog for my main gloves but have honestly worn them out in about 15 rides. The first set I sent in and they warrantied them. The second set they didn't and told me that they were at the end of their useful life. Love Klim but need a different glove.

I prefer a glove with a gator for the deep snow days. Which gloves hold up?

I like the storm glove from True North Adventure gear. Thin, Little bit of thinsulate, isn't goretex but does hold up about half a day. I think you can get them with a powder gator.

Like You I prefer the Klim, but have also worn out the pair I had in short order. I've always had good luck with the RU Outside gloves......

Rather than a brand lets focus on construction and material.

I think the best gloves are ones with an outer "shell" and then you wear an internal "soft" glove typically called a liner.

I have an outer shell glove and "multiple" inner shell glove liners of various thickness to wear at various temperatures.

For the liners I go with a synthetic micro fleece inner and a POLARTEC exterior or COOLMAX for wicking.

Wet hands .... take off gloves remove liners ... wring out moisture (if any) and reuse. Really nice stuff.

Or you could keep a pair in a muffpot and swap out.

The best glove material today IMHO is SCHOELLER SHELL FABRIC.

It is made of Codura , Lycra and other polymides.

There are various forms of SCHOELLER special fabrics.

So a glove can have multi layers of various SCHOELLER materials.

the two best suited for us is DRYSKIN , DYNAMIC and KEPROTEC

The aramide-fabric with space technology. Five times stronger than steel, gram for gram. Extremly tear and abrasion resistant. Fashionable looks, comfortable, durable , flexible and easy to care for.

For the PALMS and figertips... PITTARDS ARMORTAN ... special treated mountain goat leather designed for rock and rope rappelling.

Find a glove with these material and you will really appreciate the technology.

AND yes NASA uses these materials for space suit gloves.

Just buy a pair of these gloves and thank me later. I've had almost every glove under the sun and was mad that I didn't know about these sooner. Waterproof / breathable and reasonably priced. You can't go wrong. I usually carry 3 pairs of gloves with me. 2 Lizard Skins and one pair of moto gloves (incase it gets warm), all in the pack. The only time I use both sets of Lizard Skins is when it's super deep and I get the 1st set wet from diging my spode-like riding azz out too much.

Edit - I should mention I've had my original set going on 4 years now and don't see why they won't last another couple years.

Fox polar paw............

I have two pair, and use both every ride. They are not water proof at all. I carry several pair of gloves, but don't leave home without a big, fat , warm pair to ride home in. I like the smaller better fitting gloves for riding in, but I do get cold hands somtimes. When my hands get cold, it is time to take a break, dry my hands and get out a new pair of gloves. -00's

Those Lizzard Skins look interesting.

Very similar to the Thor Ride gloves I wear. MX style gloves with a water/windproof membrane. I buy a new pair every year, but still have the first pair I bought 4 years ago. Check them out (Ride Motorsports stocks them).

Bought 2 sets last year and burned thru both in that year. Besides the fact that they are hot and I was constantly sweating in them and pulling off wet gloves was a trick (the first pair ripped apart). One thing I will say is that they kept my hands warm.

I think I've tried every glove on the planet from the $80.00/pair jobs to the $12.00/ pair jobs, they all last about 15 rides at best. I purchase a few pair of Gore-Tex Kombi's every fall and use them till there junk.

I get a couple par every year at the end of season sales at the local ski shops. Usually trash them by the end of the year. Snag them on trees, suspention parts, trailer ramps, and so on. Then buy new ones for next year. I carry three extra pairs every ride two heavy and one mechanic gloves. And rotate through the day.

North Adventure powder storm gloves Rule, Multiple seasons on one pair. Just bought a second pair for backups. I bought a pair of klim klimate gloves last year for backup and the seams ripped after 2 times wearing them.

Here is your answer

I have used the Tundra model for 4 years now and still work great... warm enough and Goretex waterproof, with good dexterity.

HESTRA-ski gloves
I skied over a hundred times last year and did a seven week backcountry sledski trip in Alaska putting over 1200 miles on my sled and another 500 in my home state of Wyoming, so trust me between holding ski poles, riding big faces in Ak, and digging my sled out of one of the biggest winters in the history of Wyoming, I seriously abused these gloves and they still are in great shape for this season
