Give me your opinions on track lengths

I am on the fence about long track-ing my turbo dragon 700. right now i have holtz/fox rear set up with camo 156x2.5 extreme. I think going to 163 camo extreme will not be worth the effort or money. I always ride no tracks fresh/ very deep snow. Tell me about your 170+" experiences. Thanks

I ride a 07 skidoo xrs with a slp kit and a 174 x 2.5 on it and would never go shorter again. They work very well and I can ride it in the tight trees with no problems and a lot of times easier than shorter tracks as you do not need to always keep up so much groung speed while manuvering. The only thing better is a 174 x 3". They are flat out impressive. If you are worried about the length of a 174 I would deffinetly see if you can get the 163 x 3" in there. It will deffinetly be worth it and probably scare the crap out of you with where it will go.

the 162 seems to be the right size for me, works good in the deep and can get 4 of them in a trailer:)

Another vote for 174x3! Put one on my Escape this year because I rode 2 sleds last year that both had 174x3's. You'll never know it's back there until you tractor by all your pals...

My post

Thanks you guys! Do any of you know what i would have to do to get 3" to go around the drivers without hitting the tunnel? Any of you have 1774 rails for sale that would fit my sled?

track lenght is directly proportional to the size of your weener so i must have a huge weener:D

136 with hp wtf my cousin had a 995psi with 136 nasty on hardpack get it in 1ft + snow and it sucked couldnt come close to touching my buddies stock 07m8 153:confused:

I have heard it many times.... "I don't need anything longer than a 151" These guys always get schooled when they really ride with a group of longies in the deep... Long is good... in the deep,, and in the trees.. My 174 budies always kill me,, on my 163.

Who makes tunnel extensions for the 09 cats or can u get a 174 into a 162 tunnel. What are you doing for clutching to compensate for a 70+lb track.

I run 19/47 gearing on my 07 ski-doo with the 174 x 2.5 and a slp kit. Clutching is the same as before when I was running a 162 x 2.5 just dropped one more tooth on top.

I'm going to have to disagree with you, as just about everybody i ride with has a longer track than me (154's, 159's, 163's etc). I can go everywhere and anywhere they go on any day regardless of snow depth (with the exception of straight up climbs and shoots) but as far as boondocking is concerned i don't see them having any advantage.

Anyone who says they can run with the big tracks and don't need one is probably correct: but all said and done they always work harder to do it at the end of the day! 174 for me, and as soon as I con my wife into it, hers will be the same..
