So iv been informed that the groomer has ran out of money. What i understand is the state does not provide enough to begin with:mad: This makes me pretty mad considering we still all pay for our licensing and all the taxes associated w/riding. Im not sure if all areas are effected but at least schriber for sure. You can see for yourself at my thread about "groomong at schriber" Spelling's not my thing. Its been talked about before(at least among my riding buddys) we need to get together and raise the extra money for the groomer. Im mean serious...this isnt exactly a cheap sport anyways. We can all afford a little. You are aware of the alternative:eek::eek:
This is the info iv been given- Randy Skillman@ Industrial Mowing 360-428-5910 If every body chips-in a little should go a long way!

We have the right to get an accounting of how the money collected is split up and spent, and how much there is.
We need to figure out how to get this info.
I am sure it is as frustrating for the guy's who do the grooming as it is for us.

When we have a year like this when it does not snow for 7 weeks, do the groomers still have to keep the schedule?
Or do they set there own.
This happened a year ago when we had tons of snow and I can understand that, but when we don't have any new snow for so long it is very frustrating.

Aren't we all so happy...............

That we (snomobilers) raised our own licence fees a few years ago. How did that work out for us? I am a little skeptical about giving money due to the fact, it never seems to make it where it was intended to go. I don't seem to remember having these problems when I started snomobiling in 95'. Our money is not being spent very wisely. Maybe we need a bailout too! I think our license fees should be reduced back to ORV tab price, Then get local clubs to take donations and hire the groomer. I'll bet if you get the state of Wa. out of the loop our money will go further. Or maybe charge a parking fee at the snoparks, with all of it going towards grooming and amenities. I would have no problem paying $5-10 to park at a snopark. If I knew the money was going towards the park I use. And not some welfare case. Take a look at our government, see how it works? Not very good in my opinion. But until the original fees get reduced. The ones that were suposed to be paying for all of this. I will have a tough time giving anymore. I feel we need a change in how this is handled, but do not have the answers. Good Luck -00's

I have the right to inform you that the information on grooming is available from the state parks.... If you feel there is an injustice than please ask for more money!!! Riders from our area fight year after year with the state for more money. Our operator is a snowmobiler himself and often times donates alot of time to the area and is given little credit.. Also private owned groomers have the right to make there own schedule.... :beer;

Maybe i failed to make my point. Im not saying ask for more money. The state of Wa has a huge deficite i know this. As sledder we can all afford a little extra. Maybe it's not stopping after a ride for dinner and beer, or one less can of race fuel a month or whatever it is. With as many people who use schriber snow park it wouldnt take a huge donation. And ya i can "Man up" like you said but, who doesnt like groomed trails....anyone:confused:

here's the problem which most dont understand

Our last license fee increase was about 5 years ago. Guess what everything we do cost more money now but we are still basically running on the same money from 5 years ago. The grooming rate has gone up a bunch, the money is divided up thru out the entire state. Every single area thinks they get shorted, there is only so much money to go around, so untill we raise our license fee's or get money tax money out of the gas fund we're stuck. All the money is accounted for, there are all new people in state parks, remember the snowmobile program is funded soley on our license fee's and a small portion of the gas tax. We get no money from the state general fund or state parks. It's a very limited budget Unfortunately the only way to get more grooming is to get more money somewhere. Yes we need to make the groomers accountable for all their time and money spent. This is up to your local club that handles your area. Do I think we waste money at times, you bet, I see the groomers go out when they dont need to but thats theirs and the clubs call. Just my take from someone who's spent a zillion hours over the last 15 years fighting these battles.

So let me pose this question...would you be willing to make an out of pocket donation to get the groomers back on the mountain? Because i am! Its not like Gregwhore is gonna tap into her rainy day fund to help out the snowmobilers. And it wont be any better next year. A 10 20 or even 50$$ donation to suppliment the groomers would go pretty far. Where talk'n several thousand if there's enough people on board. I cant afford to do it myself obviously but i find it hard to believe im the only one thinking it:beer;

Next year will be worse

Sorry to say, it will get worse every year, as inflation rises and we have the same 32 to 35,000 sleds registered each year with out a license increase or more money out of the gas tax fund we're scrw"d, thats just the cold hard facts. do think the state is going to give us money to play when they're up side down, how many billion????? I aint no rich guy by any means, but I do know it cost 45 to 80 bucks A DAY to ski, you dont think us die hard snowmbilers wouldnt pay 50 or 60 bucks a year for a license fee?? Think about it. Sure I my self would kick in for baker and I only get up there once or twice a year. I would like to know why on a short snow year they burned up so much money so fast, Sure we got hit hard at the start of the season, but we had almost a month with no snow. I would have thought they could have budgeted it out for the whole season. I-90 stampede is short on money to, but we deal with what we have.

I was in no way blaming the groomers, I think they do as much as they can with the money they are given, and probably more.
But as most of you know if our state (overtax,way overspend) is involved we are probably paying some burecratic salary just to divy out the funds instead of the most possible going to the actual need.

When I go to Whistler Or Revy, I pony the $5 or $10 for the trail fee, I just expect too.
I wouldn't mind keeping the system going the same, but also adding a $5 parking fee so that the riding areas that get the most use also get the most additional funds directly.

I've seen the groomer twice this week at Stampede.He did an excellent job grooming the trails.If the politicians take some of our money for grooming.they can come out with a snow shovel and start grooming!

You all voted for the $35 tabs too didnt ya??:face-icon-small-dis

This is what happens when you think your voting to save more money.

I myself would gladley pay "out of pocket" to see grooming and parking maintained. However it just doesnt seem to work that way.

It's a sad state we live in but "WE" made it that way.

the problem is now that our great state is in such a deficite, it is the wrong time to bring up raising the tabs, they will probably want to dip into the money then. $35 a tab probably doesn't run the groomer for an hr. I talked to people at the groomers meeting a couple months ago and it is the wrong time to raise tabs. it is what it is and not much we can do about it now. up there the club seems close to the groomer so I'm sure it can be worked out somehow with donations and such

grooming

It seems like if the money for grooming comes solely from license fees and we are always out of grooming money that we need to raise license fees in WA. Could it be that simple?? Snowmobiling isnt a cheep sport anyways. If a license fee was raised to $50 per sled would that allow grooming to be done all year? If 50 bucks isnt enough then make it 60 or 70 bucks. I would pay it as long as long as the money is accounted for and used to make our sport better. My 2 cents.

That tab thing wouldn't have mattered,,, the cross eyed snake would have more money to spend else where any way. This has been an on going issue since the grooming programs were started. This left broken wing government has only gotten bigger and bigger, ever notice all the slug chasers along side the hiway when it comes time to change a sign? YA, YA, I know we need more state workers to keep our roads plowed because of the cry babies who don't know how to slow down and drive sensibly and have MORE PATIENCE when they drive in winter instead of thinking we need more tax waste to keep our roads clearer so everyone can drive 70 down the road... What was it like 10 or 15 years ago? Any one researched the state to see how many new hires just in the hiway department there have been? The left run government has one agenda TAX AND SPEND and they count on short term memory loss amongst the stupid or,,, the ones who only care about what makes them happy. If you vote left don't b( t<h about how things get decided in this state.... How's your vote for our fabulous president strike you??? NO MORE EAR MARKS what a joke!!!!! Not picking on anyone personally just venting....

This whole thread has kinda derailed. My intention when i posted was to find people who would be interested in pooling some $$ together to give to the before mentioned groomer. In an attempt to get him back out on the hill. If your interested or able to affords some donations i think he(being a snowmobiler too) would be inclined to take the money and groom. I tried to contact him but havent heard back as yet. The whole debate about who,what why, and how is a mute point. Im making an attempt to save the rest of THIS season. So who's w/me:D:beer;

Great idea! Lets raise our liscence tabs to $100, just see how smooth the trails get then!

I'm not giving another $.50 to the state. I feel bad for the good people trying to provide a service (the groomers) but I think a deep recession is worth the pain to watch a bloated state try to live within a budget for at least a few seconds. The few seconds are almost up as they are already scrambling for ways to raise taxes.:mad::mad::mad:

Raise the tabs again, Ya right.

If the grooming has run out of money this year, they always will. This is the lamest year I can remember, except 05. I don't think raising the licence fee will work. We need to charge a user fee at the snoparks. I think that would generate more money for the sport, and I think it should be privately managed. Not state managed at all. Also it would fund the parks that get used the most. I appreciate all of the hard work people do for our sport. But, I think it is a failing system. This year proves it. Last year, I can understand running out of funds, but not this year. If I had to guess, not knowing the facts. There are more snomobiles registerd than ever this year, fuel is cheaper than it has been in years, and the snowfall is the second worst I've seen, ever! It isn't adding up. -00's
