Looking for a new sled and wondering what I should get. I had a 440 xtra10 with a 133 and sold that for ZR 500. BIG MISTAKE. I want the paddle track back. Is there a big difference between the genII and the edge? My mom rides a 550 vertical edge so I kinda know what its like but she doesn't let me ride it... EVER ha So if anyone has some input that would be great.

Never liked the Edge rode one a little bit every year since they came out....

I STILL have my GenII.

Edge all the way it has sooooooo! much better suspension and is lighter. Just wondering is that a 2003 700 144" in that pic because I have one I will be selling at the end of this year with minor mods like a 2 wheel kit, Gripper Skis and 7" and 2" risers included ect.

there is like a 6 pound difference in dry weight... edge being lighter

I remember a photoghraph of a scale...and I'll try to find a pic from 2003. The dry genII 800 151 was 505. The dry Vertical Escape 159 (which was so awesome and lightweight and the best in the world...) was 515.

I liked my Gen IIs better than my Edge. Scott is right on the weights. The Edge is actually significantly heavier, especially if it is not an Escape model. Find Wyoming T/A's thread on sled weights and check it out yourself.

the edge is a great out of the box sled, but since i have gave my gen II a complete-mod-makeover, it seams to suit me better then the edge, although i do like the tapered tunnel on the edge. :beer; both are great sleds!

I had an escape and loved it. I now have a lightweight Gen II, but only have good things to say about the edge and out of the box I really prefer the edge.

I voted for the Edge- currently own a 99 RMK 700/136 and an 03 Escape 800/159, used to own an 01 700/144. I like the Edge suspension better, handles the bumps better than either Gen2 we've had, and the stock skis on my Escape are a lot nicer on the trail than the skis on my 01 (the 99 is a close 2nd in trail handling). As far as off-trail performance, my 03 will go places easier than the 01 I had for sure, but the 01 was no slouch climbing. The 99 is no slouch either, its actually out-performed my old 01 on a few occasions in the powder. Neither sled is a bad choice, I'd go for which ever one you can get the best deal (not necessarily the lowest price!) on.
FWIW- all the sleds I'm referencing are essentially stock- my 03 has SLP intake stuff but that's it. Stock skis, stock tracks, AFAIK stock gearing on all of the 3 sleds.
Scott- any idea how an 02-03 Edge 800/151 compared for dry weight against the 01 GenII 800/151?
