Gearing? Pro and cons

Thinking of playing with gearing I want more bottom end have the slp stage 2 kit will be adding a head this week.. Who's changed gearing and what's the pros and cons thinking about a 19 and poss a tooth up I rode my buddy's stock etec which had a lot more bottom end

Gearing

Lots of factors come into play when picking a gear ratio, the bigggest two being body weight and elevation. Riders often gear too low, (higher numerical). To take advantage of lower gearing, a driven helix with more starting angle is needed or trenching and over-rev right after engagement under full throttle will be a problem.

Some clutch kits use drive clutch weights with more heel weight to keep the RPM down after take off, while others use a combination of more helix and more heel weight. Stock weights work fine with the right helix and driven spring. What do you weigh, what elevation do you ride, what type of snow, what track length are you running? Those factors will determine the best set-up.

If you do a search there is a couple good threads on gearing down. Specifically if your looking at gearing a Pro down, quite a few guys have had good luck with changing to a 19 on the top.

"If" I don't snowcheck a 14, I'll probably try gearing down as well, just to give it a try.
