me n a few guys are thinking about making a trip out to the southern big horns, but we have concerns about where we would be able to get gas. How many places are gonna be open and selling gas on/near the trails? and where at? thanks

Contact south fork lodge I believe they will have Deer Haven open this winter. http://www.southfork-lodge.com/
like mbsieg said if deer haven is open then thats your best bet. if its not open this year the closest place is in tensleep, wy just down the mountain.
so basicly, if we got a sled with a small gas tank we better bring a few extra jugs or we are screwed 
Ya you probably better bring some fuel jugs but my m7 last all day. And tensleep is only 30 to 45 minutes from meadowlark lake so its not that far off for gas.
sweet. So its not gonna be as bigga deal as i thought then. I got a 11gallon tank on my sled, but the older ones got 7-8gallon sleds so i think they might be needing the extra not me
ya you'll be fine even they should be fine with the smaller tanks depending on how hard of riding you are doing. Like I said tensleeps just a rock throw down the mountain from meadowlark.
thatd be nice if deerhaven will be open. the ski resort would be nice to except they would probably get mad when you climb them on your sled.

true, it would be nice to have somewhere to get food while out there without having to go into town
