fuel mileage with duramax

LB7, avg 17-18mpg commuting, mostly highway.
18mpg straight hwy at 80mph (unless there's a big headwind)
12-14mpg towing enclosed 2pl sled trlr or ski boat, running 80mph on interstate.
20mpg driving 55-60 mph on state roads

brand new 08 silverado 2500 dury..... the thing was doing about 12 mpg until 18,000 kms 04 11250 miles. Thing opend up one day to around 17 ~ 19 mpg. Then.... at around 25000 kms, the exhaust burner chit the bed.... my truck went into safe mode and all i could get out of it was about 50 km/hr. disconnected the batteries and all was good except the engine light stayed on for a couple days and the burner never came on again and the clean exhaust filter warning never came on again.... The engine light went out after a couple days and has not come on again since. Ever since the burner stopped working, it went to 20 ~ 22 mpg.

I have a 2007 classic style duramax
it has a AFE cold air intake, Predator Programer, Straight pipe BD 4'' Exaust, and BD Exaust Manifold. Dynoed at 515HP. When pulling our 4 place encloused trailer i get 26 MPG at 78 MPH. Without trailer i sit at 34MPG at 80 MPH. And this is running 34'' tires.

no way?

The 03 will fill it sooner. There are more injection events in the 07 that make the burn more complete.

the 03 would fill it sooner?that doesnt make any sense..i would have to guess that either they fill at the same rate, however one obviously being cleaner.or the lmm would fill it quicker due to the higher fuel consumption, which is what iam saying.in the end it probably is cleaner but still way less efficient than the previous version.still glad i have an 02. 75 cent b100 in the summer sure is nice.lol

no offense but that is really hard to believe

My dads first gen dodge logged 26mph average on a run from WA to AZ running empty

it's an auto and govs out at like 73 mph, he used the govener but ran the cruise control around 65-70mph

My 95 Dodge gen 2 only gets maybe 20mpg, but it's full time 4x4 auto and runs 36x12 tires

I read DTR a lot and I'm about to put in hubs for a 3mph gain and advance my timing and run smaller tires, should put me in that 26mpg range...also gonna put in a fuel plate and gov springs to keep it from defueling so bad

seems the newer the truck gets the worse MPG with all the clean air garbage on them

think I'll stick with my 95, doll it up some maybe

Running bigger tires you have to hand calculate the miles per gallon. Your DIC will not give you an accurate reading.

Sorry I am not thinking right this morning. Its the tuner or chip that will throw of your DIC. It doesn't recognize the correct amount of fuel that is actually going to the motor.

i got a 2008 2500 with the PPE programer on economy and i get 17.5 mpg thats with 37" TOYO M/T. just took out the dpf, havent checked it yet. will let you all know.

IT might be hard to beleive that i get really good fuel economy in my duramax. When a first got it i was only getting 14-16. I had to invest a lot of money into my truck to get this kind of econony. But it was well worth it. i have really good milage and more power than you can handle.

the only way your getting the mileage you said is going downhill.20 mpg gain with an intake, exhaust and programmer, thats funny.

maybe it's a hybrid diesel/electric, I don't think I could tow mine behind a motor home and get that kind of fuel economy, and I've got plenty of $$$ in mine

I'd like to know how it runs w/out the dpf. I had an Edge on my 05 D-Max, it was great. I just switched from the Edge w/attitude to Banks PDA on my 08 D-Max. It's alot better now. Edge runs horrible on the new trucks. Pushes to much fuel through when pulling a heavy load.
