I have ridden ski doo for years, tonight (gulp)I went and bought my wife a 600 rmk What does a guy who is new to polaris need to know about this thing?
I plan to change clutch weights by prying the clutch open and holding it there with with a shim of some sort? Good idea or bad? What can is best on a polaris?
I m sure i will have more questions soon.

thanks, Niles :clap2::clap2:

I assume the Pro 600. That's a good way to do the weights so you don't have to pull the the clutch. The 800 was solid last year so I'm betting the 600 won't need much. I bet you like that 600 better than your Doo! ;)

Yes, to change weights, take belt off primary, pry spider open, use a impact socket, etc., to hold the spider open. Easier than pulling the sliding half off the doo and using the button holders for the TRA, FWIW. Congrats, you did good, and you'll also enjoy the sled if you get a chance to ride it!

Right there with ya Niles, but I got the 800 pro for myself, ya the clutches are way different!! No more clicking on the Pro, but I think its going to be a far better sled and way better clutching system:becky: I just will be happy to be able to grab a belt and not burn my hand on it:face-icon-small-con This being said I have yet to ride it, or ride one at all, but everybody I talk to that I know that has ridden one say they flat out ROCK!!:faint: So I think we are in for a treat this year. Good luck and happy riding:becky:

Clutch weights were a breeze once i found the tools. I thought i would have got a few more tools with the sled.
Having had skidoos only for the past few years, what is the process for weight transfer on a pro, Do i adjust the limiter strap ( i dont see any holes) or do i adjust shocks? We wont be able to ride for a month yet but trying to be prepared to get this set up for the wife.

Niles, just let her ride it as is..if it bottoms out on her..crank up the rear track shock 1/2 turn at a time till it stops..if it doesnt pick the ski's enough you can do the same on the frt track shock, but normally they are a little ski light for what most ladies would like...shouldnt need much for sure...the manual should have a pretty good read on adjustments for weight and such..if you want the limiter to be adjustable..call mark at holz..the limiter off any holz skid will bolt right in and is adjustable(the pro skid is a copy of the holz alpha skid by the way)..
