freeride sled

hey guys, i do a bit of riding and i am looking to get more into freeriding.
the guys that i ride with do mostly that nad have comp ramps they run in summer and winter.
i want to be able to ride and keep up with them as much as i can.

so im asking you guys which would be a better choice of sled for this riding?
so far my two choices are an IQ 440 or a mxz x 440(rev)

any other sugggestions?

ok.. i guess i worded it wrong.
i am looking at buying either a IQ or mxz and want to know which chassis takes the riding better.
as in which one can have more **** thrown at it and not break?

price range is around $4000

Ive seen a lot of 06-07 IQRs (440s) being sold for $3000-3800 range (even some 600s) and the 'doos for more. Once in a while i'll see a 440 rev be priced in the mid 3gs range.. look through the swap meet, there are two 440 revs for sale posted in the swap meet for 4000 or less..

IQRs you can find for cheap! prolly more so than the MXZ-X..

I_OWN_U, where are you?

No need to fear.... I .... Am hear! (i am told that saying that is not as cool as i think it is but what ever)

If you want my flat out honest opinion than hear it is. The 440 REV race chassis is a beast in its own right and i have seen them take a beating but if you want a sled that is built to last get a 05-08 IQR. They truly are the strongest sleds EVER built.

If anyone wants to see a video of my friend trying a back flip and landing upside down let me know. Just send me a text to 406-224-0067. A 30-40 foot drop on hard pack snow landing upside down and all it did was crack the hood, pop a few rivets and dent the pipe. If you did that with a rev you would be out an entire front end.

I bashed mine all year and the only thing i broke on it was a mesh vent on the hood and a bolt came loose on my drop down bracket and i broke it when i was jumping like 40 50 feet in late spring landing flat.

So i spent about $130 on repairs on my IQR this year and i rolled it, ghost rid it off 2 cornices, endoed 2 separate times and i piled into the back of a landing ramp :D

I guess i did crack my pipe but that is just becasue i lost a spring or two.

one thing i forgot to mention, is i would like the option to run pump gas.
how hard would it be to "trail convert" the IQ?
and whats involved when doing so

As stated above, no comparison, the IQR's are the strongest. Go here for trail conversion and TONS more info

Try it again. I fixed it. Or, go to hardcoresledder.com under the Polaris 440 section.

I bought an 05 in 05 to race. Was my last year racing snox, but I have to say, I love the sled and still ride it today just for fun on the jumps. I put on the low comp. head kit and run pump gas and barely noticed much of a power loss. very responsive in the air and like stated is a tough sled for sure.

Down side is the steering/ski pressure. The rev is much easier to steer and ride than the IQ. but I like the IQ better.

Get the IQ, just plan on taking a little time to get the feel for it.

Where are you located? I'll sell you mine for $3700. Mint cond! Wifes sled, only riden on sundays in perfect snow conditions. never rolled, never jumped. etc. etc.. j/k.

It is pretty much show room condtion for real though.. pm me if your interested.

does anyone else have an opinion or wise words of advice for either sled?
so far i think i am sold on the poo.
just to find one within shippin/driving distance that isnt going to cost me an arm and a leg

Well atleast with a rev if you break something most shops will have parts on hand.

the doo is easier to convert and less maintence when done. depending on how you use it the poo is not as good of a "trail sled". if you are only going to use it for ramps then it doesn't much matter. i went through the same thing last winter. i went with the rev, it was easier to convert, less maintence ( you have to worry about the center crank bearing on the poo, has to be greased all the time). if you buy an 05 you had to fix the track angle. for trail use they require you to change the spindles for better steering ( not a necessity). and the largest thing for me, that damn seat is so uncomfortable, but if you spend zero tim sitting on it then who cares. i love the look of the sled and it is bullet proof, i say if you only do ramps get the poo, but if you are going to trail convert and ride alot of other stuff get a doo.

bbbwwwwahahahahahahaha!!!!!!

You need to get that video from I_OWN_U, if all that sled had was hood damage, loose bolt, and pipe dent for sure get the IQR. His friend must be nuts trying that backflip, looked like he had zero rotation once upsidedown.... f'n CRAZY!!!
