Fox, Raptor, or Exit shocks

I was going to go with the Fox Evol X up front and the Holz rear Fox setup, but after searching the threads for information it seems the Fox setup may be a PITA and not as good as the Exits or Raptors. I read a few posts complaining about Fox shocks. Maybe these complaints are referring to the older style Fox air shocks?

I am usually boondocking in powder. I'd need help choosing shocks!!!! It seems the Exit 1's and the Raptors are well liked, or are the Evol X's up front and Holz rear setup just as good or better? Anybody with experience please advise.

That's weird I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE PRO WITH EVOL R's UP FRONT/EVOL R ZERO PRO COMBO REAR. Two settings of air and a simple rebound adjustment to dial your preference. I had EVOL X on another sled and there is absolutely NO REASON to have that complex combination plus you, I, nor Burandt will ever heat the combo up to utilize that technology on our application. The Evol R is awesome, adequate, and an exceptional shock package for what you are doing!

Please note I am TOTALLY bias as FOX RACING SHOX PAID ME TO SAY THIS. The problem is that it is the fact and next year, now that I'm not on the gravy train anymore, IT IS THE COMBO I WILL STILL RUN. (hmmmmmmm?) Experience? I have a little on this application!

wow, F-Bomb and a float recommendation.. Who would of thought? lol

the only thing I know is I dont want to adjust air psi all the time like when the temp changes or alt ckanges so raptors and a KMOD rear for me..

I had evol R's on my M sleds, proclimb, and pro rmk. Evol R's are a much better performing shock than the stock Walker Evans, but I now have Raptors on my M8 and Pro rmk. They are a much better performing shock IMO. Weighs a little more, but you never notice it on the snow. Very smooth manners on bumped out trails but do exactly what you want them to in the pow. Nice to not have to carry an air pump with me anymore as well.

Exit X1's in front and X1/XO in the rear on mine...best I have ridden, but I have not had the chance to try the Raptors yet.

I've never owned Exits, but have owned many versions of the Fox's over the years. The Raptors flat blow them away IMO.

Fox shocks are nice and the Evols are much better than any other floats but personally I feel like Exits and Raptors are miles ahead of them. I just really prefer coil over shocks. I have exits on my pro and I can't imagine owning another sled without them they are so amazing. Custom built for your weight and riding style, triple rate springs, and compression damping. For the price you pay for them I believe they are unmatched. Have friends with Raptors and they also seem like fantastic shocks but a little more money and I don't feel like they are any better than the exits.

+ 1 for Exits!

I have the exits x1's up front and x0/x1 rear setup. As I have said before they work very well especially if you do not like to fiddle with sh!t while out riding. I normally ride my exits at -12 clicks out on compression for both the ski shocks and the rts. For butter soft ride I go to -16 on all and for stiff rallying/dropping I go to -8. That is it! To have that adjustablility in ride with only those small clicker changes is amazing. The ski shocks and the rear track shock are unreal! I must be hard on the fts b/c every sled I have had they are not up to snuff. This is the first one that is decent (take that with a grain of salt as it is far and away the best fts that I have ridden just not as good as the ski and rts' are). For whatever reason I am very hard on the fts, friends ride the sled and say it is deadly... For reference I have put time on evolR's, float 2's, but not the raptors. If it was my money again it would be exits no doubt. That being said, the raptors may suit me as well, but I know the performance of the exits and I will not be going to the floats.

JMHO

PS> They are F-ing expensive though...

I have Float2s all the way around and this is my only complaint is the PITA to constantly checking pressures. Other than that they work really well for me.

Thanks for all the information. It seems that you can't go wrong with either the Raptor or the Exit. I decided to go with Raptors all they way around and they will be on the sled this Friday.
