Can you mount the stock post forward on an 03 800efi? Just don't want to spend the money on one when next year i'll be buying a new sled.

just move the top mount to the other side and the bottom mount you have to drill the lower two hole over about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch and hope you can make the ski's line up with the linkage. btw the stock post will bend at some point unless you drive a piece of pipe or a 3/8 socket extension down it.

Doesn't the stock post hit the throttle bodies on the EFI sleds? Not sure here, but I thought I saw that somewhere.

I tried moving my lower mount over and i could not make it clear my carbs. If I was to move it far enough to clear the carbs The post would be on such an angle my bars would have been very crooked.

i know it will clear the carbs but not 100% on the efi ....good point.

If you grind alittle off the engine mount and ran pods intead of the airbox you could probably get away with it but even then im not 100% sure it would work. Plus the stock post is very weak. I replaced mine for a wildchild my sled has 700 miles and the post was bent in 3 different directions..

forward post

i have a forward mount post for sale if any one is interested pm me or call 13077510102

I bought a steering post used and got it in the mail today and took it out to look at it, and it is for an older style i think, it has the bushing mount on the bottom like the top part mounts. Will this work on my 04 mountiancat with some different mounts?

The one you have is from an 01 mountain cat 600 efi. I am working on one right now and that is the same one. Look on Babbitts web site for their parts look up for the right parts list.

Wonder if i could cutoff the bottom of both and weld the new style on too the other steering post?

Mine already rubs in the stock location maybe i will try to see if i can move the stock one forward and not rub anymore than it already does. Some pictures would be great.

Could you post some detailed pictures of your setup?

I can take pics if needed but I didn't do anything fancy, just unbolted everything, moved the post forward, flipped the steering post hoop and bolted it back together. Then trimmed the hood to clear.

***You'll need to reroute the coolant line coming off the throttle bodys or it will get pinched and rubbed through, I had to pull the belly pan to do so***

^Learned that one the hard way.
