Fire on the Snowy Range

How much of what got burnt was beetle killed?

Well it was def in the beetle kill but from the pics you can tell it burnt through the sage brush as well.

When the fire was burning it was the number 3 priority as far as forest fires in the nation because of all the beetle kill and the potential for growth.

Squirrell Creek Fire.... We were riding on of my favorite trails when we stumbled onto this bad boy.

11,000 acres of mixed fuel... Grass, dead fall, slash, and yes some beetle kill. Looks like the fire did a good job from what I saw. I didnt see much, if any sterilization of soil. We saw green grass sprouting up in some areas already. Looks like a beneficial fire.

More pics

Hope you guys enjoys these, had to hike for a while to get them.

This pics shows, as Jake said, green grass already growing in the burned areas.

Looks like someone was playing in the Baldies!! Did you see any deer? Which way did you go in?

Never heard em called that before, went up the Woodslanding side one time and then up the refuge side the other. No deer, just some grungy antelope, and a random elk leg in the middle of the trail, kinda weird lol.
