From Saratoga I can see a huge plume of smoke.. Heard the fire was near lake Owen

Does anyone have any details ?

Well I can't upload photos from my phone but I got some good pictures of the flames coming over sheep mt into the woodslanding valley. It was at 500 acres earlier today but I'm thinking its doubled if not tripled in size by now. I'm also betting the small town of Jelm is gone by the morning and the top of sheep mt will be charred.

If the Squirrel Creek Fire blows up(it's potential for growth is considered High) it could go right through the riding areas up there. It started just a few miles southeast of Albany. Most of the area has been issued evac notices all the way to Hwy 130. Scary situation. I'm going to drive up on the hill tomorrow and see what it looks like. Heartbreaking. I'e been going to the area for almost 50 years and with the potential for growth and the Beetlekill, It's never going to look like I remember it as a kid and young man.

At this point with the winds coming in the direction they are I don't think Albany is in too much danger. The fire burned accross fox creek onto sheep mt and accross 230 so if it tried to burn back hopefully it would put itself out. I watched the fire climb down sheep towards 230 for an hour or so last night helping a friend load up all his important stuff.

The Keystone Facebook page is a good source of links for the fire too.

Look up "Keystone Wyoming Web Cams"

It is up to 7,000 acres now and they are bringing in a Type II management team Tuesday morning.

Hopefully a couple million gallons of free water will fall from the sky this week to help out the fire fighters!

Early this afternoon.

Thanks for the pics rockdog

My parents drove up to the cabin with the boat today for the week, they said the smoke in Cheyenne and Laramie was pretty bad, but it did rain on them a few times on the way up. Hopefully some storms will dump some rain to help out the firefighters this evening.

We are still planning on heading up Thursday, hopefully they will have partial containment by then.

Holy crap that's intense! When was that taken? I've got one from Sunday evening that shows the flames at the top of the hill and thirty minutes later the fire was halfway down the hill, but still haven't been by a comp long enough to load them.

I talked to my parents this morning and it was cool and calm at their place. They could smell smoke, but not as bad as yesterday.

The fire crews bumped the burned acres down to 6700 and it sounds like they have containment started (6%). One house burned down and three outbuildings lost so far.

I think this was Sunday night.
