Finger throttle doubts

I've ridden with a finger throttle for 3-4 seasons now and won't go back to a thumb throttle. My son is now riding so I'm looking for a munster finger throttle for a 2024 or older Matryx. Let me know if anyone has one they are wanting to sell.

Anyone looking for a Munster Finger throttle for a 24 boost? I have one for sale. Tried it and didn't like it. 50% off new!

Do the top riders use finger throttles? Hill climbers and racers?
Not sure about racers but a couple of the "pro" backcountry guys do.

I seem to remember a few years ago someone discovered that the Munster throttle didn't quite allow full throttle operation on some sleds. Has that been remedied? If not, anybody know which sleds that's an issue on?

I have it on 3 sleds no problem getting full throttle if you cork your grips it could be an issue. The throttle seems to be more popular with the Canadien riders I don’t know of a single Polaris sponsored rider the uses it it does seem like the guys who like big jumps are more likely to use it. It definitely provides better grip on the bars. You are less likely to whisky throttle except in the trees where it may be hit by branches.

It has enough lever travel, but the throttle cable needs to be adjusted. Every single one that I've installed took up almost all the available slack, to the point there were hardly any threads remaining in the adjustment in the cable housing.

Better grip when coming down hill is true as your body is pushing forward on the bars and a thumb wrapped holds you in place but on acceleration I would much rather have 4 fingers wrapped around the front of the bar.

I feel like I have better grip on acceleration with the finger throttle it allows you to wrap your thumb around the bars but I do understand it’s a preference thing for each individual it won’t really make you a better rider either way just what you feel more comfortable and in control with

Finger throttle is a solution where there is no problem... at least for me.

Bigger learning curve for novice riders to learn not to whiskey into things when they get gripped in fear.

I agree about novice riders.
For the guys that think they might want to try it sit on your sled and turn the bars back and forth with your thumb on your thumb throttle then wrap your thumb around the bars with your index finger sticking out and turn the bars back and forth see what feels more comfortable. That should give you an idea if you think you would like it.

dude im not even a novice rider and i had issue with that on the trail, granted i was riding a buddys skidoo turbo and havent spent much time on a turbo either, or a skidoo for that matter. it was a whole day of new stuff hah

I dislike them, but can ride them when I need to.

Again, solution where there is no problem. If you are having throttle control issues you need to ride more. Unless you have some kind of hand injury/disability I don't see why a finger throttle makes sense.

Better to spend that $260 on fuel to spend time on the sled while improving skills.

I don’t think it was necessarily meant to be a solution to a problem although it actually does solve the problem of the Polaris throttle block constantly icing up at least pre 25’ for me I feel more comfortable with the finger throttle. I can definitely ride with a thumb throttle though. It’s not a game changing mod I don’t think any of the top Polaris riders that use them.

I use a lefty, but not for the reason that you would think. I have a rare medical condition that caused severe muscle atrophy in my right hand. It's a total PIA and if you saw my hand, you would probably say "dude that's f**ked up!" But it is what it is, and my options were either quit riding or put on a left hand throttle.
Most of the time I use the regular throttle but there are times when I need to switch back and forth between the two throttles, due to the loss of strength/dexterity in my right hand.

I thought about converting to a finger throttle, but like the OP, I would be concerned about hitting a tree branch and getting launched off the sled.
