Fed up..

Well I just spoke with my dealer, turns out drive shafts are back ordered until December 26. I'm so unbelievably upset. We're finally getting snow and now I can't ride until after Christmas. A lot of good those days off are going to do me since I won't have a sled. I'd like to tell Polaris where they can put that free gallon of oil. If they think that free oil is going to make up for it, boy are they wrong. I've spent more than that just taking the dam thing to the dealer! I will NEVER own another Polaris Snowmobile. This coming from a family who has had over 10 Polaris snowmobiles.

IMO the dealer should buck up and lend you a sled. Another idea is there one sitting on the floor or a crate have them pull one of those and put in your sled and can you get collar local? They can wait and put the BO one in that sled. Tell your dealer this that your you will not be buying another Polaris. Probally won't matter.

You can tell just by looking at it that it is made of a garbage quality of aluminum extrusion. I dont understand why they dont make these critical parts out of billet. Or even 4140steel or something.

Thats Horrible!!!! the one that i know of breaking my dealer pulled off a shaft off one of there other sleds and gave it to the guy and even went and installed it on the mtn free of cost. i guess its all in the dealer, and god i would die right now watching all this snow dumping and not having a sled, hopefully they can get ya back out there sooner

This is all unfortunate how this is going down for all parties involved. And yes, Polaris is lucky no one has gotten killed, yet ,due to this major issue.

I have been a Cat guy for the last 8 years, used to be all Polaris. I was seriously considering going back to Poo this year, on the fence between the ProClimb and Pro. My concern was the motors that were letting go , never thought there would be a drive shaft issue , and really was not concerned with the belt drive.

The other hurdle is going to be once these sleds get past the drive shaft issue, and get some miles on them , is the motor going to go more than a thousand miles and hold up.

That said- one of the best things I did not do is buy a Polaris this year. Sucks because I really wanted to but opted for the proven reliability of the Suzuki powerplant , not to mention A/C seemed to get most of the bugs worked out.

I hope Polaris indeed pulls their head out and gets it together for 2014 as I could see myself on one.

In regarda to what you said about being disappointed in the way poo responded to the problem.....I think u need a little perspective. The service u get depends much on the dealer. At least poo admitted they had a problem....and it sounds like u new about it before it blew. I had a belt burner cat last yr and it was frustrating for them to fail to acknowledge an issue until 75% of the winter is over! And all cat did was release a diff belt, no permanent solution.

Poo not only admitted an issue but did it by 12/7. And made an arrangement to get at least a bandaid fix out ASAP do heir customers will loose AS LITTLE RIDING TIME AS POSSIBLE. Immediately shipping out 11-12 shafts to all pro owners is not a feasible solution and would take MUCH more time to implement. The collar fix hasn't been tested for months and months as would be obviously preferred but there are miles in them and there is no negativity yet. It COULD end up being a permanent solution. Too early to tell.

Also, Poo is inspecting and fixing all driveshafts even if someone put an AFTERMARKET fix on. Stand up move imho. This is almost unheard of but they are doing it in an effort to stand behind the sled. In essence they are acknowledging they put out a product that was sketchy and left questions in the customers mind, that those doubts were legit and that if u took efforts to fix it yourself before they could, they aren't gonna screw u.

You can't really complain(legitimately anyway) about poo's speed in dealing with the situation. They are a huge company and if they rushed a fix out customers would be unhappy with that too if it didn't work well. It takes time I decide in a fix, organize it, produce it and distribute. If I was a poo owner I would be frustrated but encouraged by poo's action, the verbage in the bulletin, and the speed of their reaction...IMO

U have been rubbed raw and I can understand that. But ultimately u are a big boy and u made a decision to go with that company DESPITE their previous public reputation and ur personal track record with them. And u can't complain about the motor b/c if u bought a used 11' u knew the risk going into it.

RKT hit the nail on the head IMO by saying it isn't fair but it is what it is. When you were sitting on the hill right when u realized u broke a driveshaft, would u have written a $100 check to make the problem go away? I know my answer.

Just my .02...hope I didn't ruffle any feathers.

You're right, snow is here! I go through Northstar in Preston, they have always treated me well, so I'll give them my business. They sound just as fed up with Polaris as I am! But I still have my old M8 so at least I will be riding something this weekend, just sucks its not my new sled!

Thanks for checking! I just hope they get real fix for these things soon.

So I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but they are some things in your post I feel I need to address. I feel like you might have a whole different perspective on the situation if it were YOUR brand new sled sitting at the dealer with not even a date on when it will be ready to ride.

First, my dealer is awesome, they've done quite a bit for me and I won't go anywhere else. I spoke with them yesterday to see if they had any update for me (we just got 3+ feet of fresh) and they are just as frustrated with Polaris through this whole situation as I am. And yes, Polaris did admit that they had a problem, but they are dealing with it half-a$$ed. Like you said, this fix is just a bandaid.

Also, Polaris did say on 12/7 that they were doing this half-a$$ed fix, but I didn't see that until the night on 12/8, my shaft broke earlier that day. A lot of good that did me. They did say that they don't want people to lose any riding time, however, my sled has now been at the dealer for two weeks, and they still can't tell me when they will see a driveshaft from polaris. That is absurd. I'm just sitting and playing the waiting game. So I feel I have a LEGITIMATE reason for being upset with them.

As for the 11 having motor issues, look at this thread I started,http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=275627, very few in any motor failures with the 11 Pro, at the time anyway, If I would have asked that question at the end of the year, there would have been A LOT of different answers.

I don't mean to sound like an a$$, but you and I obviously have different views on this situation, and I have to say if you were in the same situation as me, you would be frustrated too.

Your probably right. If I would have been screwed that many times by a company I would be pizzed off. Major. Even if it had been only one time, having a brand new sled sittin in the shop would suck. It is easier to be "objective" when your not in "it".

It's too bad that we have to decide between a reliable sled or a sled with the futures we want. And even the reliable sleds have problems.

I guess my point was that large companies move slow. No matter how much of a screw job it is...that's the fact. And Polaris is at least dealing with it. Doesn't mean you shouldn't be pizzed, just means at least they didn't stick their head in the sand....like AC mot of last yr.

It sucks that you blew the shaft the day after the bulletin. That's bad luck. A day or two earler and you woulda known different. I hope poo steps up to the plate and gets you back on the snow. Having a killer dealer is a huge asset.

Good luck man. No hard feeling I hope. You don't sound like an a$$....you sound like a guy whose $12k sled blew a shaft. Sucks. Good luck.
