Fed up..

I didn't buy a fix kit because Polaris came out saying that they'll supply one at no cost. I figured I'd take it in later this week or whenever my dealer gets them in and get one. I figured It would last a little while without, it just sucks that it ruined a killer day and a 3.5 hr drive!

bummer! that's exactly why i bought one from Edge Works last week. we have some great riding conditions and i didnt want to risk it. we've all spent 10's of thousands on trucks, trailers, sleds, gear etc ... for a pretty small amount of the year we can ride, no point in cheap-ing out on a clamp that's under 100. WELL worth the peace of mind IMO

I wouldnt of trusted it after reading about all the broke shafts on here. Sounds to me that your more mad at yourself for not taking some precaution and getting the clamp

Maybe a little, but I don't think that I should have to buy an aftermarket part in order for my brand new $12,000 sled to make it 50 miles.

In my opinion, Polaris just needs to pull their heads out and put the 11-12 shaft in all the 13s. That would give me a little more faith in them for standing behind their product. Instead of just using an after market solution that really isn't proven yet. I know there are no reported failures with the clamp or collar or whatever you want to call it, but how many 11-12 driveshafts have you heard breaking?

sucks man! i was having all this bs go in one ear and out the other till one of the guys i ride with broke his, that night i called rktek and got a clamp from him, i had 30 miles with out it and now i got a 160 total. these sleds are amazing i really hope they fix this right (whole new shaft). i came from a m8 it was a solid sled and iwas pumped when i got this new pro, just sucks they had somthing like this happen because if it didnt idk what people could B!t<< about cause its a BADASS ride. have already pulled lines and went places the m8 wouldnt have. hope ya get back on the snow soon, its gettin deep out there!!

I agree 100%, but at the end of the day you want to come home happy and safe.

its unfortunate that this is happening. call me stupid but after putting 125 smiles ooops i mean miles on my stock driveshaft with no mods, i trust that my driveshaft is going to hold up great. I dont even want a clamp of any kind on mine.

Yup, and next week you will be singing a different song when you have to be pulled out. Do the SMART thing and put a clamp on your drive shaft.

This post and your original thread hit home with me. I had the 2005 Fusion and Polaris did nothing. Paid $9000 new and sold it two years later to a snowmobile salvage company for $2300. Had 3-2007 600 so called bullet proof motors go south and one 2009 800 RMK grenade on me after Polaris did the update on the motor. I now have a 2011 Pro and a 2013 Pro. I am concerned about cylinder skirts on the 2011 and now the 2013 shaft. Some here don't think it is such a big deal but it is to me when I drive 1200+ miles one way to test pilot a new sled. I have owned my fair share of sleds and have beat the crap out of most of them riding the most back breaking trails across MN, WI, and MI and never once have I ever broke a drive shaft. Never! And don't remember anyone else breaking one either!
And now we have this collar/clamp remedy. Once again, consumer testing.
Reminds me of the Red Green Show. Duct Tape. The handyman's secret weapon. Excellent thread and a very informative picture. Thanks!:face-icon-small-win

But you keep buying Poo, isnt that the definition of insanity?

It is very unfortunate that Polaris did not forsee this issue and went into mass production...
But, what is done is done... So, now the question is. do you spend a little money (that you should not have to spend) to be able to ride with confidence and not ruin your day and everybody you are with's day as well.. Enjoying the $12000 sled you just purchased..
OR...
Do you wait until the end of the year or more, in order to save a little money and HOPE that you do not get stranded in the backcountry or possibly injured??

Polaris is doing what they can , but the riding is now and riding without a fix in place is risky...

Wow this doesnt make me feel better. I hadnt heard of any breaking over even 100 miles...guess i better do something before my week long togwotee trip next week.

I think more along the lines of stupidity. Reminds me of a co-worker that said after his third divorce, I'll never get married again. Guess what happens two years later.:face-icon-small-con

I wouldn't let a dude named Theresa tow my sled out either.

:face-icon-small-ton
