I didn't buy a fix kit because Polaris came out saying that they'll supply one at no cost. I figured I'd take it in later this week or whenever my dealer gets them in and get one. I figured It would last a little while without, it just sucks that it ruined a killer day and a 3.5 hr drive!

Maybe a little, but I don't think that I should have to buy an aftermarket part in order for my brand new $12,000 sled to make it 50 miles.I wouldnt of trusted it after reading about all the broke shafts on here. Sounds to me that your more mad at yourself for not taking some precaution and getting the clamp

In my opinion, Polaris just needs to pull their heads out and put the 11-12 shaft in all the 13s. That would give me a little more faith in them for standing behind their product. Instead of just using an after market solution that really isn't proven yet. I know there are no reported failures with the clamp or collar or whatever you want to call it, but how many 11-12 driveshafts have you heard breaking?
Very good point there... I'm definitely not riding it without something on there, whether it be Polaris', or an after market companies.I agree 100%, but at the end of the day you want to come home happy and safe.
its unfortunate that this is happening. call me stupid but after putting 125 smiles ooops i mean miles on my stock driveshaft with no mods, i trust that my driveshaft is going to hold up great. I dont even want a clamp of any kind on mine.

Dude I was with had 200 + when his broke just thankful e dealer went up and installed a new shaft for him on the mtn because Theresa's now way of towing it out, get a clamp!
This post and your original thread hit home with me. I had the 2005 Fusion and Polaris did nothing. Paid $9000 new and sold it two years later to a snowmobile salvage company for $2300. Had 3-2007 600 so called bullet proof motors go south and one 2009 800 RMK grenade on me after Polaris did the update on the motor. I now have a 2011 Pro and a 2013 Pro. I am concerned about cylinder skirts on the 2011 and now the 2013 shaft. Some here don't think it is such a big deal but it is to me when I drive 1200+ miles one way to test pilot a new sled. I have owned my fair share of sleds and have beat the crap out of most of them riding the most back breaking trails across MN, WI, and MI and never once have I ever broke a drive shaft. Never! And don't remember anyone else breaking one either!Maybe a little, but I don't think that I should have to buy an aftermarket part in order for my brand new $12,000 sled to make it 50 miles.

And now we have this collar/clamp remedy. Once again, consumer testing.
Reminds me of the Red Green Show. Duct Tape. The handyman's secret weapon. Excellent thread and a very informative picture. Thanks!![]()

I think more along the lines of stupidity. Reminds me of a co-worker that said after his third divorce, I'll never get married again. Guess what happens two years later. But you keep buying Poo, isnt that the definition of insanity?
I wouldn't let a dude named Theresa tow my sled out either.
