Fed up..

So I know there are a lot of these threads floating around right now, but I just need to rant. I'm starting to get really sick of Polaris. I've owned a bunch, and after today, I don't think I'll buy one ever again (I've said that before)! I 've owned quite a few Polaris sleds in my short life, and have had nothing but problems. I bought an 05 900 in high school and we all know how those things go, but an ECU, a few other problems and two motors later I sold the dam thing. Then my dad had an 04 800 that also went through two motors, two cranks snapped completely in half. Then we had a 700 RMK, I loved that sled, but when the crank snapped on that, that was the last straw, we bought Arctic Cats. I had two awesome years on my M8, just gas and go! Then Polaris comes out with the Pro, it fits my riding style perfect, so I picked up a used 11. Well I get 3/4 a season before the motor goes in that thing! But it was such a fun sled, I decided to bite the bullet and I snowchecked a 13 Pro, hoping to get something that would finally last a little while and not buy something thats just going to have problems, well today, with 40 miles on the thing, my driveshaft snaps. I know there are a lot of guys that have had this happen so I'm not the exception, I'm just really frustrated right now. I spend nearly $13K and it won't even last 50 miles! Are you kidding me! I'm so fed up, I won't EVER buy a Polaris again. And what I understand is that they are just putting the same POS shaft back in and putting a clamp on it. I find it ridiculous that I am scared to go places because I'm afraid that my BRAND NEW sled won't be able to get out! I'm done doing R&D for Polaris.

Sorry about the rant, I feel much better now :)

once ya get the clamp and then possibly the updated shaft next year...(but no clamp failed poo yet) you will have a great season this year......

you face will once again crack a smile riding your Polaris....i hope...

Yeah you're probably right! Man this was a fun sled today before the shaft failed, she's a runner for sure! Feels so much lighter than my 11.

Ah **** that should just buff out BRO! We could take care of this but we just don't care, so here is some free oil to hopefully limp your motor along until its out of warranty!

TGitt I feel the same way as you and I haven't even had a chance to ride my 13 yet. It is not so much that there are problems but it is the way they handle them that really pisses me off. They are only going to learn when someone gets really hurt or killed and they get stuck with a $10,000,000 lawsuit. Or their sales fall off even with a product that works fantastic but now one trusts it. Polaris only feels the dollars and every decision they make is about the short term buck.

their response to the issue seems ok under the circumstance imo...

they were caught off guard like everyone ...

i think they are going to be as sincere and genuine as can be expected ...hopefully...jmo..

their response certainly offers more hope then despair....if you want to see real indifferance just look at Cats
dealing (not dealing) with the belt issues...

Im a salesman at a polaris dealership in Wyoming and we haven't yet had a problem. Knock on wood but our Polaris rep says the first drive shafts that went through the assembly line are the ones having problems. Polaris is more than happy to.fix it. I have a 2013 pro 800 demo and i have 120 miles on it and im completely impressed. It handles so good and its better than the 2013 ski doo 800 xm. I had an 05 800 and had crank problems then bought a 2009 dragon and I've had 3 motors. But in the long run Polaris always finds a way to impress me. Just give it time because there is always a problem even with all other manufacturers.

Tgitt, sorry to hear about your failure. You said that you knew of other failures, did you consider buying a "fix" before? If so, how come you didn't get one?
I didn't buy a fix kit because Polaris came out saying that they'll supply one at no cost. I figured I'd take it in later this week or whenever my dealer gets them in and get one. I figured It would last a little while without, it just sucks that it ruined a killer day and a 3.5 hr drive!

it is lite cause it has a light weight driveshaft not steel like your good old 11 ha ha. sorry no i feel your pain went riddin up snake creek a buddy on a 13 didnt even enjoy the day cause he was thinking about how to get it out if it breaks oh i mean when it breaks . On a positive not my new Rk tek kit ran awesome this was another result of not trusting polaris warranty was up 1500 miles on a 11 pro however my cylinders looked awesome pistons were stiil good also oh well:face-icon-small-con

Best picture yet of the driveshaft issue.

Sorry to hear about all your bad luck with Polaris.

We switched to Polaris in 1998 and have owned 10 sleds and only had electrical issues with a 2008 Dragon. Local Polaris dealer treated us fairly on that one.

You shouldn't have a problem selling your Pro if you decide to go that way.

Better luck in the future.:face-icon-small-hap

Well I do feel for the guys having issues, it's not all bad. Not everyone has had issues. I'm just over the 400 mile mark and no issues, and mine has been abused already

On the plus side I will buy your now used Pro for $6500

We kind of made it, I broke this up willow creek. Great snow until kaboom.

Yeah this kind of hit and miss, just a bummer that I was so paranoid all day worrying about if it breaks here will I be able to get it out? Shouldn't have to be scared of a brand new sled breaking..

as long as manufactures continue to push the envelope (lightest weight, more hp) you will always have things that will give up on you.

if you are worried about the drive shaft, just worry about the COUNTLESS other things (belt, top end, track, a arms, etc) that could go wrong and leave you stranded. most of these other things have a better chance of happening compared to the drive shaft.

FWIW....we put a 3" track on ours with one of those fancy donut clamps and it has held up to some pretty good abuse. Obviously it's early in the season but so far no issues with shaft or belt. (knocking on wood). :face-icon-small-win
