Fuel Type Switching

Another 2013 Polaris update - :face-icon-small-coo MULTI-FUNCTION GAUGE

Versatile design allows you to swap tach & speedo positions, monitor hours, temperature, trip odometers and overall distance. Features a built-in recorder which logs up to 3 minutes of run time, which can be played back. New for 2013, riders are able to choose fuel type through the multi-function gauge — an ethanol jumper plug is no longer required.

I would actually rather have the stock boards over the Burandt boards. The holes are bigger in the stock ones, which is a big plus. Way stouter feeling than 11 or 12 boards so why do they need to be stouter. I am still not sold that snow doesn't stick as much to powder coat. Snow sticks to everything including powder coat and carbon fiber. I would save yourself some money and just get the regular ones.

Interesting on the non-ethanol fuel requirment. Obviously 90% of the riders will be running 10% ethanol as they have no choice. I wonder how this will effect warranty?....I would hope they wouldn't use that as a reason to deny, but..... :face-icon-small-dis
I thought that same thing. All the gas stations in my neck of the woods all turned to ethanol this winter. I honestly don't know where I would get non-ethanol fuel.

So Polaris put the 3 minute data recording on the sled. Might be good to learn how to erase that. Another way for them to deny warranty. "you were abusing the sled when it failed..."

td what did you think of that bag, gage lifter, intake set up? Is it durable enough to roll the sled over? I like that it replaces a couple of after market mods I do, just want to be able to roll out of a stick.

The Data recorder is not new. It is one of the standard features of the multi function guage on 2011 and 2012 models.:face-icon-small-coo

well you have to use the mid windshield with it, or its going to be sticking way up in the air with nothing to block for it. It seemed pretty rigid so in softer snow I wouldnt worry about it really, if the snow is more setup or theres sticks and debris then I would worry about the display screen getting poked or snapping/bending your key off. I'd go with, if you think you're going to break the mid windshield rolling it out of the situation, then you'll probably bend the framework of the bag a little. Line of sight of the gauge when standing was great though, and there is a good amount of room inside the bag itself. Overall a pretty cool option w/ the mid windshield.

So if Polaris is giving us the chance to switch from one fuel to the other I would think that the warranty would still be good no matter what type you use, ( I hope)

That makes sense. If they are giving us the feature to run either fuel and knowing the limited to no availability of the good stuff in some areas - Warranty should apply to both fuel types:face-icon-small-coo

So as promised here are more photos of the options along with sleds. All photos are pretty self explanatory but the one that raises the most questions were the Burandt boards. The are a little thicker then the stock in terms of the cross bars but not by much and I couldn't feel any flex when jumping on either set. Also the powder coat they use is very thin and after looking where the frame had rubbed a rock it was flaking off pretty easy so your call. Now for the photos.

what I don't get is everywhere you look the white limited edition had the mid matte black windshield. Which is the one I want. But you cannot snowcheck the sled with that windshield. You can get a mid clear one but thats it. I am hoping when you have to choose 1 of the 3 that you get that windshield on top of the mid matte black. I have been trying to find out at work but no one can give a deffinate answer.

Here's what I got in Denver...

Retro was much better looking in person than it was on the Polaris website.

White looks good with gloss panels and white hood but would have been sick with blacked out spindles, arms, rails, bumper, etc.

Black has gloss sides but flat black hood. This one is the Burandt wrap with accessories (Burandt boards, bags).

Thought the retro would have looked better in person than on the website. Great pics even if it was tough to get them.

Broskie,

I have not seen the gauge bag in person, does the gauge have an extension lead to make it fit at the taller height?

The bag looks a too big for my preference as I like a mid height windshield. No one makes what I want so I am thinking about making my own carbon fiber version.

The OEM plug actually reaches thru the side/middle of the bag and plugs in. It didn't look like they had an extension on it to make it reach. But I'm not 100%, it pretty cool just sits to high for my liking.
