Elevation setting-who uses it & what does it do?

I have been riding my 04 Vertical Escape in the 4-7k elevation, with most in the 5-6k for about 4 years. I don't have a stock hood so no factory stickers. I was sitting on a friends 05 Edge and was reading all the stickers on the hood.

Holding the reverse button till it has a fast flash is a setting for riding over 6000ft. Anyone use it and what does it do?

Setting

It just adjusts the PERC to work better depending on the altitude you are at.
