Anyone have one and what do you think? We have an upstairs that of course doensn't stay quite as warm as the main floor, so decided to purchase one...just seeing what people think of theirs.

Also, should I leave it running 24/7, or turn it off at night?

hey bob

we have one tried it and it just sits now.. decided it was just as cheap to turn the furnace up a notch.. Natural gas is cheap:D

1,500 watts is 1,500 watts of heat!!! It is not a magic box the savings come by letting the rest of the house cooler than the room its in. Just get a milk house heater and save your money. They also are not very quiet.

We have had ours for a year now. Really like it, we only use it when its cold out. I prefer it over our fireplace, but our fireplace burns real wood, seems to suck the heat right out of the house. We do turn it off at nite if I remember too, its pretty quiet.

My grandmother has the Sunheat brand. She uses it to basically heat the whole house. The furnace hardly ever turns on and she says her energy bill went way down. She never uses the downstairs so it says cool. The main floor is nice and toasty. The upstairs is a little cool, but she says she sleeps better when the room is cool. On super cold days it doesn't heat enough so the furnace picks up the slack.

All in all, I think they are nice to have if you have a room that stays a little cooler than the rest of the house. I don't think I would try to heat our house with just one. For the price of these little units, I am torn. I think any little Wal-mart heater will take the chill out of a room for ALOT cheaper.JMO

As mentioned above 1500 watts of heat is 1500 watts of heat, there is nothing magical about them but the price. I was also going to buy a $400 heater but after some research I deceided to buy the $39 oil filled heater also at 1500 watts. Works just fine and I didn't spend $361.
