dyno testing the 800 ho saturday

Not sure how many people are or who have been dynotech members. He does not just post a number. He post numbers and reasoning behind it. He monitors a bunch of items and sometimes tests mods and mod combinations. Would not surprise me if he noticed she needed more air and he removed the air box to pop the number up. He will explain all that.

To clarify for those that may not be informed on this topic.

The engine being talked about here is a RUSH Specific 2015 800 HO engine, new, with many changes... bore and stroke stay the same... the cylinder, Crankshaft, pistons, cylinder head, exhaust valves, crankcase, electronics, injectors, throttle bodies, reeds, etc etc have been changed and are unique to this engine... it IS a new motor... The bore and stroke are the same as a Cat 800.

This engine is NOT installed in ANY 2015 mountain sleds... only the Rush/Rush-SB, AXYS chassis sleds.

Good to see that they are improving the output!!

Lets pray for durability and hope that it makes it to the mountain sleds next year.

.

To clarify, the 800 CFI has always used the same bore and stroke as the Suzuki 800. 70mm stroke, 85mm bore

Thats why fix kit pistons are m8 pistons..

MO. If the "fix" was just pistons, maybe they did fix it.
If the "fix" was just port configuration, maybe they did fix it.
If the "fix" was just modern ex. valve operation, maybe they did fix it.
If the "fix" was just better eng. management for EPA stuff, maybe they did fix it.
If the "fix" was just different-stronger cases, maybe they did fix it.
If the "fix was better cooling control, maybe they did fix it.
If they "fix" was better oiling when needed, maybe they did fix it.

Maybe they "fixed it" in the '13 changes. Seems better, eh!
Maybe some who own them never knew it needed "fixing" anyway.
Maybe it was "fixed" so they finally brought the power up and made it better anyway.

Don't know, but it is obvious they are taking the next step with this motor now, following what I think is a good method, of improvement and not redesign.

I`m going into my third season with original bottom end. Pretty confident. Never expected more from any sled motor I have had. And that`s the old one lol.
Any motor can be tweaked to add Dyno HP for short pulls, Most wont live on a long WOT pull Jus sayin the numbers are not what you will get in real conditions.

Numbers from the same Dyno shop on the same dyno CAN however show that the power has improved or decreased.

In this case, for the HO 800 in the 2015 RUSH/AXYS sleds... the power DID increase from previous years.

Thats good!!

So you think he tested these with a different method or setup than the ones he's done previously, you know, the ones you liked hearing. LOL.

No suggesting that at all. They come out with ECU updates all the time and pull timing /add fuel ect. after burn downs. Doo has has at least 4 re maps in two years.. Poo has had several as well. The mapping adjustment can make more HP typically in early releases. Tweaking HP on the dyno dosnt mean it will be able to sustain on a real pull without burndown. I have no doubt the new motor will make more ponies, However comparing to the other manufacture HP means absolutely nothing until they are on the mountain.

Fixed it for ya!
:)

Power Increase

In my book it is all about reliability with the new Poo 800 but if you can get more power too and the more the merrier so honestly who can complain as long as it doesn't follow history and it stays together? I can only imagine what this could do in the pro on the hill. Hopefully this will only push all of the other manufacturers to up the envelope HP numbers.

OMG i can here it now my new motor has not had the problems the older ones have had...... two year later....and 2500 MTN miles this thing is a POS... HUMMMM :face-icon-small-win:face-icon-small-ton:face-icon-small-sho:brokenheart: But wait it has a 4 y BTB and i only had to sit out on a back order from Dec, to march....

So Bloody negative all the time, I recommend you think about increasing your dose of vitamin "D" with winter setting in or you will be one miserable SOB. Maybe try quad-ing your current dose. Thanks!

Please forgive the derail, but he needed some Sunshine in a pill / Humor.

i do not belive thats the same ecu setup consumers will get :) looking forward for other tests this winter :)

^^That!^^

Polaris has on a number of occasions presented pre production units that ran hard but when the EPA approved production units showed up they disappointed badly. My -08 D7 and -09 Assault for example.
The D7 was eventually fixed with proper mapping but the -09 800 was never anything other than an expensive thirsty 600.....

I hope my -15 RMK shows up soon, then the new powerplant can have two years to prove itself before its time for me to trade up again.

I rode it the axys pro-x last spring with the new HO motor. The motor felt awesome, super crisp and snappy off the line. Super light throttle pull too. I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised when it comes to the mountains next year. I'm not the only one bummed we don't have it this year.

Also I ran it as close to WFO as I could for 9 miles straight on trail. She got warm but ran great. Fun sled, motor needs to be in a mountain chassis! :)

Poo, including Liberty or Fuji, has never had a true class leading, or even consistently competitive big bore, 800 or larger OEM engine, twin or triple. Some exceptional chassis' and great mountain clutching. There has a to be a first time eventually, at least for a year or two. Always chasing ghosts. Maybe this is it. Let the Axys R&D crew work them out, first, but until they get hard miles day after day in the mountains, it's just pure, fun, speculation. They obviously will be dropping this motor into a RMK next year, barring a 900 Fusion disaster.

Axys Pro X chassis?? So was this a prototype Axys mountain chassis?
