dyno testing the 800 ho saturday

To clarify for those that may not be informed on this topic.

The engine being talked about here is a RUSH Specific 2015 800 HO engine, new, with many changes... bore and stroke stay the same... the cylinder, Crankshaft, pistons, cylinder head, exhaust valves, crankcase, electronics, injectors, throttle bodies, reeds, etc etc have been changed and are unique to this engine... it IS a new motor... The bore and stroke are the same as a Cat 800.

This engine is NOT installed in ANY 2015 mountain sleds... only the Rush/Rush-SB, AXYS chassis sleds.

Good to see that they are improving the output!!

Lets pray for durability and hope that it makes it to the mountain sleds next year.

The thing that bugs me is... My 14 is a better motor than the 2011/2012 which was a better motor than the 08-10. But why in the hell didnt they just make the jugs longer and put longer pistons in and design their block like the fix-kit after the 2008-2010 recalls

MO. If the "fix" was just pistons, maybe they did fix it.
If the "fix" was just port configuration, maybe they did fix it.
If the "fix" was just modern ex. valve operation, maybe they did fix it.
If the "fix" was just better eng. management for EPA stuff, maybe they did fix it.
If the "fix" was just different-stronger cases, maybe they did fix it.
If the "fix was better cooling control, maybe they did fix it.
If they "fix" was better oiling when needed, maybe they did fix it.

Maybe they "fixed it" in the '13 changes. Seems better, eh!
Maybe some who own them never knew it needed "fixing" anyway.
Maybe it was "fixed" so they finally brought the power up and made it better anyway.

Don't know, but it is obvious they are taking the next step with this motor now, following what I think is a good method, of improvement and not redesign.

I`m going into my third season with original bottom end. Pretty confident. Never expected more from any sled motor I have had. And that`s the old one lol.

I see what you did there....

Any thoughts regarding how much or if the Swiss Auto acquisition by Polaris played into the development of this engine?

When was the last time you had a term-paper finished early??

I believe that Jim said he was working on it on Sunday.

I'm anxious to see the write up too!

Does anyone plan on dynoing a cfi-2 from an rmk with the lightweight crank? Would be interesting to see what it does since some people are putting them in.

I wonder why Polaris decided to only put the HO motor in the flatland sled for 2015. Does that mean they don't really trust it yet? Gonna make the flat landers do their R&D for 'em? Too much liability to helicopter sleds out of the mountains until they see if the electronic oil pumps work?

~This coming from a die hard Poo guy with a grenaded 2012 motor that's sitting in a box at the dealer.

It doesn't matter if Polaris makes a mountain sled that is 20% lighter, 20% more HP and 20% more reliable that anything else on the market...... the web whiners will find SOMETHING to complain about....

Polaris will still out sell there competition.

Jimmy is burning the oil hard getting a thorough write up done. please give the old timer his due.
Between his required daily nap, his medication and of course his forgetfullness it may take an extra day.. :face-icon-small-hap

but.. the clocks have turned back and Polaris has a dog in the fight once again.
Myself, i want this sled for a 2 stroke turbo lake rocket !!! A real cat 4 stroke turdo tow truck !!

beatem'' down the lake and drag the blown up 4 stroke back so the owner can call for a new tune up in with a credit card !!!!! and pray clean harbors dont see the exxon valdeez slick they left on the snow :phone::phone:

It doesn't fit in the Pro RMK chassis yet is what I've heard. They changed a bunch of stuff.

Scanned the HCS thread and seen a 150 number in there also. Couldn't tell if that was the one with the break in ecu or not. Axys is still a very nice looking machine from the front, looks like a farm machine in the back though. Can't wait to see the new RMK with the HO in her.

150 with break in mode. said they pulled 159 3 times in a row with non-break in mode ecu. They hit 163 once.

sounds like they have the power, lets hope durability is there as well and they would be on to something.

Hopefully there's even more when the aftermarket guys get done, too. Slap on a pipe and some billet heads and 170ish would be sweet in a new 400lb 2016 chassis :face-icon-small-sho

Yep, anyone else wondering how the new engine is going to respond to boost or big bores? We should here on boost from the HM thread. Going to be interesting...
