dyno testing the 800 ho saturday

Well that's roughly 15hp over the last 2014 polaris 800 they tested so that's good news. And I'm guessing there's some left to be made as I doubt that the engine tested is broken in (rings seated). Good news!

There is a bunch of numbers floating around on hcs, full write up will be tomorrow. The doo was dynoed at 155 and the cat at 158 in his shop....polaris said on par towards a bit more than whats out there. Thats basically dead on to what they said.

I am impressed if it out did that Cat and Doo same day same dyno...

Now if the motor will respond to boost like that Cat and Doo does that would be awesome!

Hmmmm...all the articles I have read on the new HO motor in the flat land sleds states that acceleration is better than the AC or Doo but that it loses power up high. So if the power is on par with the other two, I wonder what gives in torque or in the powerband.

Arctic Cat gained almost the same HP numbers when they went to their reduced weight crank and massaged the rest of the engine for 2011.

So Polaris has a new crank, redesigned cylinders and case, and an all new exhaust valve system, I don't see why the new power figure is all that hard to achieve. Again Cat did this similar thing just 4 years ago and gained over 10 horsepower.

I guess the others should just give up now, eh! Wow, wadda they gonna do. Make vids about how extra weight and less power makes a sled easier to trail ride?

I mean, with the motor being the last thing to BS about on the Pro and years of pointing at the "underpowered" thing, what's left?

With the others unable to match Poo's weight reduction after 4 yrs. and more coming off in 2016, with an out of the box ready chassis-body that everyone agrees is the best on the hills and now more power than the others too,,,. OMG! Will there even be a Doo or Cat in a few yrs???

This is not true at all. It states in one of the snowmobile magazines (snow goer or snow tech) that the Pro X out ran both the Ski-Doo and the Arctic Cat for miles and miles. I would say that it didn't run out of power and it beat the other sleds with a 1.75" paddle track.

New cases, new barrels, new head, new reeds, new crank, new pistons, new valves, new oil pump, new engine management, new airbox , new pipe,,,

It`s still a vertical twin 2 stroke, but it sounds pretty new to me.

The thing that bugs me is... My 14 is a better motor than the 2011/2012 which was a better motor than the 08-10. But why in the hell didnt they just make the jugs longer and put longer pistons in and design their block like the fix-kit after the 2008-2010 recalls
