Drive shaft bearing question

I've been reading alot of the post on drive shaft bearings and took the plunge. Not to bad of a job so far but just a question. How do you get the speedo side bearing off of the shaft, is it pressed on? I've loosened the set screw on the collar and it does not want to budge. (btw-- the chain case side bearing has a small crack in it glad I took the plunge!)
Thanks

If you have the collar loose it is just rusted a little. Press it off or use a gear puller. When done 3m pad the shaft and use a little never seize on the bearing only,then install the locking collar and lock it clockwise and install the set screw with blue lock tite. If you press the bearing off be sure to remove the speedo drive gear out of the shaft first or you will wreck it. You can pry it out with a sharp wood chisel.

driveshaft brg

does anyone have the brg #s for the drive shaft? Not the acpart #s but the brg part numbers?????

Hmm, I did not remove this "drive gear" when I pulled mine. What is the gear made of? It looks like I damaged it a bit, but it is intact.

You can also just set a socket on the end of the shaft so that it covers the speedo drive insert and press on the socket.

One other thing I have found to really help that speedo side driveshaft bearing is to take a sharp Awl or icepick and pull the outer dust shield on the bearing!! That way when you grease it the grease actually gets to the bearings and race and pushes the water out!!!!!Have done this on the last 4 replacements and no problems again!!!!:D:beer;
