And I still got a Makita cordless that I bought for my dad when I got my first job. Won't say how many years ago, but it was the first cordless drill that actually had some power. The old 9.6V long batteries that went up in the handleand IIRC it cost about $200 for the drill and 2 batteries at that time.
Well 20+ (there I said it!) years later I'm up at mom's house cleaning it out and doing repairs. Pull out the antique Makita and throw a charge on the batteries. 2 of the 3 batteries still took a charge and I'm certain 1 of them was an original battery. The other battery was at least 15 yrs old.
Used the drill regularly for 2 weeks of repair work and it worked just like the day I bought it in 1988??
