Was out riding my 07 Dragon RMK 700 and all the sudden the steering post broke off right under the upper mount. Is there an updated part in the newer sleds, Also do I have to pull the motor to replace it? Thanks

You will have to pull the air box and possibly the throttle bodies/carbs

this is what your trying to reach

No leave the motor in. just all you have to do is pull the air box throttle bodies and injectors out and your right at it. Instead of doing all of that plus the other injectors electrical cooling ect.

All you have to do is search the part # after you look it up on a parts website, it will tell you what models each part # fits.

Now that I have everything taken apart to get at the nut, I can get it to turn without the whole drag link end turning with it. Is there anyway to hold it back? If I cant get this then I will still end up pulling the motor out. Thanks

Take a look at the "Removing Drag Link From Steering Post" thread above. Goes over it pretty well. EW

Contact Wildchild here on the forum. He manufactures cromoly posts. Dont put another OEM one back in. It will just brake again. You dont need to pull the motor. Remove tank, Air box, and all four motor mount bolts and tilt the motor forward just enough to get down to the bottom of the post to remove the steering arm from the post. Good luck.

X2 on the Wildchild post. Recently installed one on my 700 - great service, quality and price.
