Yes it is common but not too often the opp. parties, with such diverse ideas, want to join to underthrow the ruling party.

Its common to have a minority government, but what is happening is since we do not have a 2 party system, we have multiple opposition parties, those multiple opposition parties would band together making an opposition party that would have enough votes to make up a majority government, so therefore voting down the current minority government, disolving parliment, and then our govenor general would have to either call an election, or there could be a request made from the opposition which now holds majority votes to form a coalition goverment without going back to the polls, which is exactly what they are trying to do. When you have enviromentalists, french separtists and liberals coming together to form government with such different priorities, it spells disaster for the average Canadian.

A few goofballs in B.C. voted for the socialists so between BC AB + Sask we'll have what five or six seats? If the coalition gov't goes through, I believe this will be the most expensive and biggest mistake in Canadian history. 3 parties with completely different agendas, cannot be good for any country or business to have in power, regardless of how much they 'say' they'll all be in agreement. I believe this will be a potential for Bloc to get their 'foot out of the door' so to speak. Will make for a very expensive learning lesson in 1 - 2 years.

Harper ***ged my folks and many other retiree's/ investors when he taxed income trust's.... He's a Fag!!!.. I'm not partial to any of the parties and I'd probably freak out if that seperatist has anything to do with our country..... As much as I hate the NDP they seem like one of they few that care about the working Shmoe.....???

I have to wonder if there is anything those in power can actually do to make any positive change or if it's all corrupt and lip service to get there just to screw us over.....

I really don't have a full understanding of politic's I just know that things are bad and can get much worse..... We as a country need to find away to voice our oppinion!!!

I keep hearing that the youth needs to vote etc.... I've been a youth for many years and have always had a odd way of looking at things....

The election prior to this I destroyed my ballot!!! This show's a vote of non cometence in our government and should throw the party out.....

If I'm forced to vote again I will destroy my balllot again!!! I just wish everyone would do the same!!!

I admire you enthusiasm and really wish more youth would get involved, but here are a few tips:
First, they have a motion of non-confidence in the house of parliament - it has nothing to do with you destroying your ballot. I am not sure what non cometence is.
Second, calling someone a "fag" (your words) makes your entire opinion worthless as it shows you are just emotionally crying out in frustration.
That doesnt make you right or wrong, just do some research and help move this country forward constructively.

You know what this all stems back to? The Bloc Quebecois. As long as they're around, and Quebec keeps playing separatist card, we're going to be stuck with ineffective minority governments.

I say the rest of the country has a referendum this time to see who actually WANTS them to stay.

If this coalition government does form, get ready for the NEP #2. The 3 names that will go down in history of permanently destroying this country will be Dion, Duceppe and Layton.

Cue the reincarnation of the Western Separatist Party... I'm buying in this time.
