does the power claw track suck or what

have heard a few pepole say the power claw track sucks and it is the worst down hills i hope not i just picked up my 2010 m8 sno pro yesterday and i had a m7 once with the attack 20 track and it almost killed me once sure would hate to have to buy a new track already havent even got to ride this sled yet

Do a search on here, sounds like it one of the best tracks out there......seems to be a toss up between the power claw and the challenger extreme.

Coming down is no doubt scary, but trust the sled, it'll get you down....don't know how many sleds I've seen come down the hill without a rider and end up fine. Seems like the rider is the one that makes the mistake.

Unbiased new guy opinion.

Power Claw up? Killer.

Power Claw down? Errrr Killer as well?

I kinda suck as I'm a new guy. I own a an 09' XP that dosent like to turn but is uber stable both up and down steep stuff.

Buddy has an 09 M1000....Swapped sleds for a few runs up and down the hill yesterday. Nice fresh snow. Great conditions. His sled turns better than mine and I'm in love with the anytime anywhere instant grunt of his 1000. His sled is really strong as horsemeat and then? I had to come back down. I almost swapped ends it due to my lamewad new guyness. Tapped the brake and it felt like an outta control schoolbus on ice...This was going down a steep powdery hill.

I thought it was just me being lame so I tried a few more times....Its the track. A guy on that track would be better served gassing it down the hill than being a wuss and tapping the brakes as it slides out to either side on ya' and feels kinda schetchy compared to my station wagon XP track.

That being said? My buddy can sit his fatass down on that M1000 point and shoot and put that thing places that me and another buddy on a modded Poo both got stuck. Its truly one of the seven wonders when a fatkid sitting down on an M series sled essentially makes all the tricky offcamber climbs and simply gasses that big beast up and over anything he encounters.....That Powerclaw is a badass track IMO. Its not stationwagon stable like my big ol' XP track but it has one pretty strong advantage.....The F**cker can actually turn and turn well on his way and when he gets to the top!!!

Sorry for the rant.:o

Buy a P-Claw equipped sled and stay off the brakes going back down?

that was not a rant.... u were right on the money. the track is great and when going down hill..... don't haul on the brakes and you will e:face-icon-small-coonjoy the ride

In my opinion the powerclaw is great! I have an m7 with a challenger and my dad has an m7 with a powerclaw and I rode my dads for a while and I saw a huge gain!! That track grabs like crazy, for example.....we came to an enormous hill, probley about a football field length but really steep! So i did it on my m7 but almost lost it at the top because of some ice. Then i did it on my dads with the powerclaw and that thing didnt slip one time! Its an awesome track. And I didnt feel anything bad coming downhill either. But hey!....if you dont want your powerclaw, ill take it! :D

Pick your lines carefully...

I just sold my power claw and installed a Camo Extreme - much happier. Although the PC works great in untouched powder going uphill, it is less then stellar in other situations - such as going downhill. There are times you need to slow down (at least where I ride). The 07-08 track was a better all around track, the Extreme is the best of the best in my opinion.

I'd have to agree. I put a claw on my sled last year, it was great in deep pow, but more AT20ish on harder snow. Camo extreme on my sled this year.

Love my power claws. in the deep there is no better track. if you are climbing up things that you are having trouble coming down maybe you should not be going up them?? Locking the brakes will always make coming down the hill a little sketchy.. the rear of the sled will want to drift sideways. Blip the throttle and keep your clutch engauged so that your engine slows you down not your brakes. There are other ways to come down a hill slow as well. Sink a ski into the soft stuff will slow you down. You can wrap spare belt around your ski by your spindle ....that will slow you down or you can even put your sled in reverse...... not my favorite by any means and have not even tried it . If it is icy nothing is going to help you exept some 2.5" stud boys:D. I would try the track before you start to worry about it!!!

Man I hope Im not disapointed, I just bought a P-claw put it on a 07 M8 that had the stock challenger. Kept my old track just in case, also I ride in the Rubies in NV. There has been alot of praise about this track for the last year an a half why is everybody coming out of the closet now? :face-icon-small-con

Don't get yourself worked up, throw that challenger track in the swap meet and say good riddens.

The powerclaw is the best track there is for powder riding, and even in spring conditions I have yet to feel like I'm coming downhill out of control. I'm one of the few who thought the A-20 track was great. When in powder position there were a few times that I slid it sideways while climbing up a windpacked chute, but once I turned it around to hillclimb position and straightened the paddles it never slid again, came downhill with complete control, and still climbed up ontop of the powder with minimal trenching. I feel the powerclaw is twice the track that the A20 was.

Just took mine up and down the face of Turnagain (twice) this weekend on my first ride with it.
Loved it. Good and solid.

Only problem I have with it is that I have to learn to get out of the throttle because I keep tail planting it. Damn thing hooks up so good that it will go into a super gnarly wheelie pointed at the sky then auger down in the ***.

I couldn't disagree more. I had the stock track on my 08 and it sucked going up and it was worse going down. The soft lugs would just bend over and I had no traction at all. Last year I put the power Claw on and loved it. Great traction all around. I would never go back. To this date it's the best track that I have tried. JMHO

Any of you Power Claw haters want to sell yours? I've see nothing but good and can't wait to put one on.

the power claw track sucks. Its the worst track in the world. I will do you a favor though and take it off your hands. Only if its a 162 though.:D

simple solution for going downhill... just tip your sled over and ride it down that way. let your ski dig into the snow and let your a-arms be your breaks :D

horrible track. :D

I went from a 156 CE 2.5 & had two similarly modded 1000's to compare them on, we got rid of the CE quickly.

Aside from all the other stuff, it's 6 (absolute minimum) lbs lighter than a CE 2.5 (the only track worth comparing to) of rotational mass. With what we spend to take off weight, the idea of using a much heavier track that is only a minimal advantage in 1/3 of the conditions that we ride it's a no brainer.

btw, you guys know these sleds have reverse right? If you're going down something that's THAT sketchy, take a day's life off your belt & put her into Reverse!
