Digital Wrench?

How is it possible that polaris keeps this info top secret? I want my own digital wrench scan tool, but I heard it is tightly controlled by polaris. How can they do this? The auto companies were sued by independent mechanics for access to OBDII back when it came out and they won? Now anyone can buy/use a scanner for autos. Why can't the same thing apply for snowmobiles? I would think that this should have set a legal precedent. I need one of you sled mechanics (independent) to get this ball rolling? I like doing my own work and this tool would help a lot.

yest it would be great. i am an auto shop owner and just bought the snapon verus for my shop would be nice to beable to use it to scan my sled :p

Asked this question years ago...have not found the thread yet.
Seems there is no right to repair in the snowmobile biz.

Dealer service = profit

There was a great thread this fall on parts, service, and dealers. The conclusion was that dealers made almost all their money on service, not on sales. If you take away the digital wrench, there will no longer be much need to go to your dealer for service. No service work means no profits for dealers. Manufacturers will do whatever is neccesary to protect dealers. That is certainly understandable.

The auto companies tried it too and failed. They were forced to give up this info once before. That is why you can go anywhere to service your car. Even AutoZone will look up any stored codes for you. What if I want to work on my own sled?

I'm sure you do. I know my sled mechanic wants one too. I'm simply saying that if dealers lose their service traffic, it may be difficult for them to stay in business.

very old thread, but do you guys still need a solution to this? I make harness adapters to plug any obd2 scan tool into a digital wrench equipt sled.

How much would you charge for these adapters and do they work with any scan tool?

I need to check to see what protocols the 900 uses first, I'll check on my dad's Fusion this weekend. But yes, if its similar to the FST you can use any obd2 scan tool. The nice thing is if you have a decent scan tool, you can check sensor data.
I charge $40 with shipping

Cool, let me know when you find out about the 900. I have a pretty good auto scan tool so would be nice to see that stuff on my sled as well.

Not familiar with the digital wrench or scan tool but given my location (middle of nowhere as in no truck or snow shops around) what can all be done doing this? If I can get a scan tool and learn this would be a great investment for me for snowmobile and truck. Can I change fuel curve on the 900? Also clear and solve trouble codes on both truck and snowmobile?

I'm really intrested to see what he finds out. I'm guessing it's only going to pull up code history and be able to reset codes. I doubt you can change the fuel stuff normally the ECU has to be reflashed for that but I could be wrong.

You can get a real cheap truck programmer to see and clear codes. about $150

For sleds ... it is a mystery

Sorry guys I've been busy with some other things. What would really speed this up for me would be a picture of the digital wrench connector or a location I could find it on an 05 fusion. I don't have a manual for the 900.

Has any progress been made on this?

If you can get it to work on a 900 why wouldnt you be able to use it on newer sleds also.
Ive got an OBDII Blue tooth scanner that I use with my phone. It sure would be nice to be able to see whats going on with my sled to.
