different ski?

hey all i'm new to this forum.
i recently bought an explorer kit of my 08 WR450, what i'm wanting to know is, have any of you out there tried a different ski? what i notice about the ski that came with the kit is that in low snow condtions it digs through to the ground pretty easy, now we have lots more snow the ski works great and i love the way you can lay it right over :D but i've been looking at single carbide ski for when theres not much snow. has anyone seen the Curve XS?

p.s i keep dreaming of the new 800 snow hawk, how much are they?

Some of us are running the simmons gen2 on our hawks. They float really well. I would have to say that the simmons would work even better on a lighter machine. The 800's went to like 20K last season. There are a couple of used ones up here for 11K.

Welcome to the single ski forum! Skip the single carbide...I think the answer to your low snow question is actually the stock "ski" that came on the bike;) drill and stud a tire for low snow and you will be rolling through the low snow instead of digging. If there is too much snow for the tire and no base off trail, stick to the roads/trails that are traveled and compacted until you have base to ride in. Lots(too many) of snags and rocks to hammer your skid rails and rollers on. A different ski isn't the answer to low snow riding.

yes a studded tire, thats what i've been thinking, i spoke with a guy on Tumpertalk, he rides his WR with home made studded tires. the question is not for where i'm living at the moment, we have plenty of snow, its for when i go back home (slovenia) i'm only in the states for 2 years. back in slovenia we don't have a huge snow pack, so i was worried about damage to the ski.
thanks
