Diesel mileage...

needs work

It weighs close to 30,000 pounds...

8.3? NEEDS A BIGGER TURBO, WHATS THE CPL#

It's a 2367....

but I was "jokingly" complaining about the mileage. 12-13 MPG with one of these is pretty much unheard of; and the power is way more than enuff, especially with the LP turned on.

A bigger compresser wheel and better housing might help, I droped 200deg egt and picket up 2+ mpg going from a 45mm to a 60mm inducer/comp wheel. + 10psi more boost

I know its kind of hard but if you can get the turbo # I can check your options

MPG

The DEF fluid is needed every 7500 to 15000 miles depending on how you use the truck (towing vs. highway) so every oil change you may spend $15.00 to $30.00. Not very expensive if your getting 18+++,I have real world experience with this motor and real world miles it has been driven over 10 million before introduction. With the proper gear rations you can get in excess of 25 MPG (TRUE !!) They have seen some breakage but that is before introduction to the public (Test trucks). This is a FORD motor and they spent $600 million dollars in developement on there own motor, no more International Navistar motors, Ford motors!

By the way mine gets 22hyway 17/19 city making 450hp and its a 12 valve a 97 dodge 1 ton 5 speed

Prove it.

I don't think i will ever buy a newer truck, i already have the best one made. When i get my tuning done, suncoast in, and twin turbo's, i will still have less into it than any of the new trucks and have mroe power, better fuel economy, and a bigger smile.

diesel mileage

2005 DODGE RAM QUAD CAB 500 HP FREEWAY CRUISING 65MPH 22-24 MPG...
FULL THROTTLE 8-10 IF LUCKY WOULD BE MORE HP IF I HAD MORE MONEY.
THESE NEW TRUCKS COST TO MUCH FOR WHAT WE PAY FOR FUEL...
IF YOU BOUGHT A BIG BLOCK GAS MOTOR AND JUST DROVE IT YOU WOULD SAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DO THE MATH BEFORE KNOCKING ME DOWN...
WHAT THE PRICE DIFFERENT BETWEEN A GAS -DIESEL TRUCK ????? AFTERMARKET PARTS ???? PRICE DIFFERENT GAS-DIESEL....
DON'T GET ME WRONG I'LL TAKE A DIESEL OVER ANY GA TRUCK
THIUS IS JUST MY 2 CENTS....:face-icon-small-sho:face-icon-small-dis:face-icon-small-con

I have had it in for 4months know and no problems, i am running it on 250 extra hp and if you keep your foot out of it and drive normal i am getting 23MPG and 130kmph. Very happy with this set up!!!!

23 mpg running @ 80 mph.......BS
maybe @ 55/60mph but not at 80, takes too much hp @ 80 mph to move a 8000lbs truck shaped like a brick.

I have a 2001 Dodge. It has stage III injectors (90 hp), cold air intake, 4" exhaust, Air Dog fuel pump, Predator chip (although this is rarely on), and probably other things and I get 17-18 consistently. I have driven on the highway at 65 without screwing around and got 20.4 (personal best). I have towed a 28' trailer with four sleds, all our gas, clothing and 4 adults etc and got 14 mpg. I got down to 13 mpg once towing a camp trailer across Montana in the wind.

One thing I have noticed is most people don't have a clue on how to figure fuel mileage. They look at the computer and if they are coasting that is the mileage they will tell everyone. I have seen this at least three times. Actual mileage is a lot less, but they saw that they were getting 10+ mpg better. I don't have a computer in my truck so I have to do the math at the fuel station.

But then EVERYONE I know gets better mileage than I do.:face-icon-small-con

A 12 valve with 450 hp getting 22 mpg...:hurt:COME ON GET REAL.

Got 19.4mpg this weekend with a rzr and gear in the bed. I figured it to be about 1,500lbs not much, but that is with having a lil fun and blowing smoke on the way. :face-icon-small-hap

HAHA ok then if you say so buddy.... I don't see any reason to BS on here but if you say so.... Thanks

i get right at 20 in town, 23-26hwy depending on how fast i drive, and usually right around 20 hauling to sleds on the deck w/ my 05 5.9 cummins, has 4" TBE, Edge juice w/ attitude, RFI intake and a few other little things. i've been happy with it

i have an 01 cummins edge juice s&b intake 5in exh more boost, billet tc and a shift kit and i get 23-24 on the hwy doin 70 and 17-18.5 in town.

This is a good comparason by an independant unbiased tester on trucks that were built in different years :face-icon-small-con

haha and by different methods. everyone knows the lie o meter gauge to be off, and if you are hand calculating, how close is your speedo and are you fill to the same point every time. oh well at least mine with 37s will get 25 mpg towing a fifth wheel at eighty into a headwind and uphill, im not complaining! :peep: j/k i can get about 17 empty on the highway with everything in my sig, 12-13 towing an enclosed, if i am nice to the skinny pedal
