Diamond Drive secondary clutch offset tool #0644-496

Is the correct Diamond Drive secondary clutch offset tool 0644-496 with 1.507 offset the correct bar for the m-series.
They say its for the f series with 10.4 clutches so would this also work on the m-series also since they also are 10.4 after 2006?
Have heard of allot of mis-alignments on the f-series and m series causing belt issues and would like to check for sure.

I don't understand the problems with the dd bars in the past and why they did not work because this should be a simple mathmatical deal. but for some reason I was told that they were not accurate and to try doing a float method to test and adjust while on the stand.
But before this DumbDrive I have always used a offset bar to check and adjust my clutches.

just wondering what everyone is doing to check their clutchs

thanks
Dave

Thanks , I have the repair manual with that page in it.
But it just tells you to use the m series bar and that bar(0644-427) is listed for the 10" secondary.
Well I am pretty sure the newer m's all have 10.4" secondarys just the older m's (06) I believe ran the 10".
So my guess is we need the f-series bar for the 10.4" secondary.

But I may very well be wrong so I was hopeing for some feed back.

And by the way back in 05 for my firecat, everybody said not to use the 10" bar (0644-427) to set up your clutches because it was a incorrect offset.

I have an 09 M8 and ordered the offset tool and got the 0644-427.
I want to say it was 1.6544" (or something close to that, I will check tonight)

The aligment bar reset's on the Motor side sheave on the primary, not the outer sheave like the one pictured on the first post of this thread. I have along way to shim it to just touch the outer sheave (towards the belly pan) If this is the correct tool to use???

I double checked pretty much what I knew and we do have the 10.4" clutch.

Now with being said while they are calling the 0644-427 (1.655) bar the m-series and crossfire but it does also say it is for the 10" secondary clutch.
The 10" clutch was used in 06 on them but after that they went all to the 10.4 like the 06 dd firecats/zr900

It should not matter what chassis, because this is a number that is suppose to take in consederation the size of clutches being aligned.

So I say the correct bar is the 0644-496 (1.507)
