Definitely BNG's for 23, Frog Doo still behind!!!

I’m not ordering anything this year because as you say, the way last fall went for harvest necessities and with our drought on top it’s gonna be a nail biter farm year.
Sucks when a multi hundred thousand dollar machine sits mid harvest for lack of a $25 part but been there, not comforting with our real life supply chain gaps we’re seeing.

Back to poo talk….

Oh C'mon man. Farming Ranching is the gravy train! :D Totally kidding. I'm with an ag based insurance company. I've been watching Nebraska farmers fighting right to repair. Louis Rossman over on Youtube has a lot of videos about him flying out from his electronic repair shop in NYC where he's constantly fighting Apple and he flew out to Nebraska to help try and fight for a right to repair bill. It's BS that a farmer has to load up his tractor/combine etc to haul it to a dealership several hours away and not see it until it gets fixed. Normally the could but manufacturers purposely make it hard if not nearly impossible intentionally for farmers to fix their own equipment. I'm just afraid with all these companies trying to prevent repairs to their product by third party repair facilities and the owners, that the practice will spread over into sleds also.

I love what I do but it’s insane the number of issues like you mentioned get in the way now that never existed ten years, five years ago.
We flat out consume a lot of resources to feed y’all and your critters.
Last year we had to stick two guys in a pickup and send them 1400 miles and back nonstop to grab a combine part nobody would transport during harvest.

Current cost to ship one reefer of spuds to Chicago from our packing shed in Idaho, 8k just for truck. 12k to Florida.
McDonald’s out of fries.
KFC dropped wedges and fries. Can’t find em.

Our Grain semis parked, can’t get rail or barge to ship.

Average Joe has no idea what’s coming.

My Dad is 70 now and spends most his time in state and national mtgs trying to keep things moving. Both of us have spent trips to DC to fight trade issues in Mexico, Korea, etc. Its nuts as we’re my boy, a Son in law, One Neighbor and my Dad full time. Four of my Daughters and a few teen boys part time.
Lot more Hats to wear for all of us than when I started.

Rwhateverthefthatsays,

I’m a cat guy, but just here razzing and learning and mostly just browse recent posts for kicks while waiting for my girls under every imaginable circumstance.

Am I good to hang or unworthy?

Always been a cat guy myself. Just bought a matryx but waiting for it to show up.

What year did Polaris have there turbo 4 stroke trail sled? I think it was called the frontier? It was after cats t660.

That was mid-2000s: EDGE chassis with an ATV motor. Then there was the FST that showed up in the iQ chassis, but the closest it got to a mountain sled was an obscenely heavy Switchback 144.

Same here. Coming back into the sport looked at cat first and what I missed the last 15 years. Didn’t like what I saw as a sum of many things. Next choice was either Doo Polaris or Yami. Doo until I saw the 2022 models and just the sight of them was enough to run me off. Yami was pretty Mtn class just lacked anything that stood out as impressive for me. Polaris 850 boost for sure caught my attention. I’m going to have to eat some crow from old riding friends.

I had to dig for some info on the FST; I knew it was only used in the iQ. Apparently Polaris bought the motor from Weber. It'd originally been developed for a lightweight automotive application. I hear they had some issues, but some people liked them. The weight though! A Classic FST is 50 lbs heavier than the same sled with a 700 (the 755 CFI-4 at that).

Anyway, gotta be careful not to bash the other brands too much, you never know what you'll be on ten years from now (as long as it's a sled and not made in China, for me). I'd say Cat is a little behind the curve, but not really that much. They probably need to make a little more progress, but I think there's a big niche they can fill with the current 800, a little refinement, and some weight loss on the current architecture: with Poo and Doo both getting more expensive, being a solid alternative at a lower price point could keep them relevant. In some ways, their biggest issue might be quality control: I hear lots of fit and finish gripes, and two guys I know who ride Cats had engines go down prematurely in the last two seasons (one was snow ingestion, not sure on the other). I'd hate to see it go down to just Doo vs Poo. Just seems like duopolies end up being little better the monopolies (think iOS vs Android).

After owning 7 Doos over the past 12 years and 4 Poo's in the same time frame I'll tell you this.. I love the Doo for balance, ride, and fitment of panels ect. What I hated most about the Doo is engine reliability and structural integrity. I blew 3 motors of the 7 I owned and all in a very short mile range of 3000 or less. as far as structural I bent 3 NUNs on slapping rocks with carbides (expensive fix) and took out 1 tunnel from a Even landing jump that the bulkhead hatted. (20ft up into powder at 25 mph) So with that being said those sleds where money hungry and frustrated me. I then jumped to
Poo.. Ill say I hated the idea of change but ill be fair and tell you my thoughts on Poo. These motors have never let me down using the same care I did with the Doo. The balance....? Well that's something I had to learn on 15 inch track. (On my Doo I had to port the 16 inch track to get somewhat close to same balance of a Poo) I've found the Poo can take hits and keep on going. I've hit many rocks, jumps and roll overs but these frames hold up compared to the Doos.. so all in all ownership costs are WAY less on my Polaris sleds. Maybe the future will prove me wrong but I live in today's reality.

I rode 3 different Cats in my lifetime all in the 90's my ZX sleds bent rails on 2 and the 3rd was a gem (wife's sled) lol The motors never let me down outside 1 chain blown out. I think all these sleds over the years have good and bad points but my worst "LUCK" was with a Ski- Doo..

Ive been told by 2 very good inside sources that i need to sell my 22 and get a 23 , was told fuel consumption might be a issue lol.
I hinted to one source if its a 900, he told me im on to something, so i guess we will see at mths end but i did tell my dealer today to count me in for a new 23 as he told me to expect ltd production.
Pretty doubtful they have a new motor. How many miles do you have on your 22?
