Deer Hunting is for Pansies!

I knew it was inevitable that some hunter would get offended by my comment but try and use the sense God gave you!

Hunting to control lion population??? Are you kidding me? Watch the video again ... these clowns couldn't hit jack and you're going to tell me they are part of wildlife control? Clearly trophy hunters out to prove what "men" they are by killing a male lion ... notice the "high 5's" after they finish ... complete idiots that got lucky and unfortunately didn't get killed.

Didn't think I needed to throw out the "food card" ... seems kind of obvious but if cat's your thing, bon apetit

Not offended, just think you maybe don't know the real story and therfore speaking out your :p.

Apparently you have never been over where lions live. In more populated areas, lions have to be managed just like cats do here in our area. Locals don't like loosing their kids either. Males are teritorial and so other males end up being the troublemakers in their wanderings to find their own territory.

As far as clowns not hiting anything, when something is that close at a full charge I doubt you would hit it everytime with that much adreneline flowing. And how do you know they didn't hit it a couple of times and it's own adreneline kept it coming.

High 5-ing could have been because the guy survived the hit the lion gave him.

IMO your showing your nievity and ignorance by assuming as well as not recognizing that even trophy hunting is part of the management tool used to help maintain healthy herds.

I don't consider myself a trophy hunter but have killed some pretty big trophy's with my bow, does that make me an idiot?:face-icon-small-fro

I could say the same for your comment ... do you know the exact circumstances of this incident or is your opinion speculation as well?

I have been to Mozambique, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa ... all are populated with lions, which I have seen first-hand in all 4 countries. I agree that lions in populated areas need to be managed ... by qualified Wildlife Management, not "thrill kill" sport hunters.

You have no clue what my weapons training consists of so you might re-think that comment or you would be speaking out your :p My quarry shoots back as well. As far as multiple hits and adrenaline, with the proper weapon and a clean shot(they had ample time and very little distance), there would not be a need for a secondary shot! The guy shooting was taking directions from the guide while acquiring the target ... clearly un-trained!

High 5-ing could have been because the guy survived the hit the lion gave him.

Adrenaline does funny things to people, but it seems clear to me that this was a poor excuse for a hunting party and clearly not an "official" wildlife management mission.

You have yourself believing what you want to believe; thankfully we live in America and still have that right(btw, never spell a word incorrectly and follow it by an accusation of ignorance ... it's "naivety"). Lion populations in eastern and southern Africa have dwindled a huge percentage in the last decade but keep telling yourself they need to be maintained with trophy hunting!

I have nothing but respect for bow hunters ... glad you enjoy your sport but you don't strike me as someone who hunts for the trophy kill? You sound like an avid hunter that has been fortunate enough to stalk and kill "trophy" class prey ... two different breeds of people and that's just an observation from your tone(correct me if I'm wrong). I am neither pro nor anti-hunting ... I personally have seen enough death and choose not to but if you're a responsible hunter, to each their own.

Fair enough. Everything posted was not a judgement but simply pointing out that you (as well as I) do not know the whole story. It is common for assumptions to be made loosely that give a bad reflection to certain sports.

ex: you accuse them of being trophy hunters yet condemn them for their lack of skills shooting. I would think that a trophy hunter would pride himself in his ability to use his weapon proficiently as possible in his quest.

Point is - it can be this kind of thinking that fuels the fires of the anti-hunter, animal rights activist, pro-wolfer, etc. people that mis-represent these assumptions in their fight to take away our rights to have guns and hunt. If the wolf becomes managed by the states and a wolf season is created, are those that shoot wolves trophy hunters?
No, and we surely don't need to "assume" they are just because of such a situation as is in that video.

I would be curious as to what destinction you give for separating an avid hunter from a trophy hunter?

Thanks for the spelling lesson by the way:beer;

those safari hunts bring alot of cash to the countries. a lion hunt is about $150,000. lions are the most expensive and can be a 30 day deal

Maybe not so much, I am not saying they are great shots but an animal that large with that much adrenaline can take a lot of lead. For example: the deer that my dad shot this year ran nearly 100 yards with no heart. I dont mean shot in the heart, NO heart. The bullet hit ribs and bone fragments obliterated it.

Also, shooting things on the run isn't very easy.

yeah it happens all the time with deers and some others. my friend shot that deer and fell down, lying on ground. he had to check to make sure the deer is dead, so the deer is dead for like a minute then rose up and ran away and his dad keep shooting at deer then finally went down. 8 points shed hangin on wall at home.
