I just got an XTX, intended for dual-duty.
First off for the wife to trail ride, and second for commuting up 6mi of trail to our cabin, lastly as a shorter track play sled. The ski stance/width is not an issue if you're in deep powder, it pulls over just fine but you may want to drop that sway bar. It handles quite nicely in powder. I think the sway bar helps it a lot on the trail especially at high speeds though as it is rock solid throughout the turns and bumps. It does need better skis - for either trail or off-trail use. I'm going to test C&A Razors and Powder Pro's and see how it respond on trail and off.
You'll definitely notice it is heavier than a two stroke, but it is very easy to maneuver once you get the hang of it. I don't see how you could possibly keep the stock track. I put on the 1.75" Back Country track - but if you do this, don't buy it from the Yami dealer. They're asking $809.00, where tracksUSA has it in the low $500 range. The tiped up rails are wonderful on the groomed trail - it actually feels shorter, but off-trail, a conventional rail might help a bit more. The bridging bumps like a 136 is marketing BS. It bridges bumps like the 144" that it is.
The stock clutching leaves a lot to be desired, and will take some time to work out. It is forgiving for the whife, but offers no hit whatsoever. The mid-range is strong, but this sled would definitely require a turbo if it were to be ridden off-trail as a primary sled to make up for the lower HP stock setup. It kind of feels like cheating to have electric start, although I'm sure there's a weight penalty. They need to look into a non-mechanical reverse too, as it's a bit of a pain and a weight penalty as it's rarely used.
All in all - a nice sled though. Fit and finish is top notch.
Yamaha has some nice incentives going on too.
Anyways - that's all I have to offer!
Good Luck,
