Dear Yamaha 2010

it's interesting to read what people want them to build. gotta laugh at the vmax idea. great hp #'s but to support that engine you would need an off road truck suspension. i think the apex engine could be tweaked to more reliable hp but everyone wants weight off the sled. why not offer the sled at a small increase in price and use some after market engineering from the factory in the form of carbon fibre such as skids, tunnels, and general framework to lower the weight a lot, not just a little. we know they can do it but this costs money. if the factory was to do this instead of only relying on the after market, the costs could be substantial. a 500 pound apex with 165 hp and carbon parts for 20 g's canadian would be a hot item.

I am hopeing for an apex (150 hp) that is phazer, nytro like, with forward rider design. Also a cool tunnel like the phazer and camo extreme track with a nice rear suspension.

I just think a lighter weight & more powerful sled would be a great way to beat Arctic Cat, Polaris & Ski-Doo. Arctic Cat has a 177HP sled or, so they say. I hope Yamaha hears the wishes of the people & makes a sled to be proud of. Yamaha is the top manufacturer in my book. Their engine technology is the best! All the other manufacturers are playing catch up as far as 4 Stroke engines are concerned.

Since Yamaha won't do anything drastic here are my wishes for the 2010 MTX

RTX post with T-top (can't figure out WTH Yami didn't put this on the MTX)
pre-filter material on all four vents
GOOD shocks front and back (everyother brands mtn sled has better shocks as an option)
Spring order option for Maverick or Challenger
+10 HP
-20 pounds

I've got some input on your desires for the Nytro's "fixes", if ya want 'em:

1. I ride with Doo's as well, and my boards don't load up any more than theirs do, we're all kicking through the day to clear the boards.

2. Tunnel doesn't cause the trenching, IMO. It's the crappy suspension in the rear that causes it; the "high-centering" on the tunnel/floorboards is a result of the crappy suspension not being able to keep the track where it needs to be. The stock skid digs its own hole, and can't climb out of it.

3. Fixing #2 with a Mountain Tamer skid by Timbersled will also fix this (drops nearly 40 #'s).

4. Better track, you bet. I agree with you on this, however I think the skid is the major part of the problem. I swapped tracks at the same time I swapped the skid, but I've heard that people who swapped the skid alone noticed a major improvement over stock even with the Maverick.

I don't know who the hell thinks that misspelling is a cause for negative reputation, because they didn't sign their name. Coward! Not to mention the fact that I WASN'T THE ONE THAT POSTED THE ERROR, I was responding to someone's question to be as helpful as I could with the experience I have had with my sled. Moderators, PM me if you want more info.

For the coward that gave me negative REP as typed below:

"12-15-2008 12:06 AM Its LOSE not loose"

have the balls to PM me and apologize after you've removed it.

Nobody claims the deed yet.....guess that goes to show how useless the "reputation" function is.

what i think they should have is who ever gives you + or - rep it should have the name of the person with the date/time.

who cares what people think and about this stupid reputation setup. see many deuche bags on here with 10 green dots that should be booted off. I posted a number for someone that wanted to buy trailer cabinets and got a red dot. lmao pretty stupid if you ask me.

Apex - +20-30 horses factory turbo/sc = 5-7 psi
-20-30 pounds
Timbersled style rear susp.

Nytro - +20-30 horses factory turbo/sc = 5-7 psi
-20-30 pounds
Timbersled style rear susp.

Phazer - Where do I start!

Mountain Max - 120-130 horses (twin)
480-510 pounds
16"X 144"X 2.25" ported single ply track & extrovert drivers
More conventional layout (aka RMK 600 HO)

Phazer - Where do I start!...

Don't be so hard on the Phazer, it does what its designed to be.
Although i think it would be perfect at 100hp, I bet you could
squeeze 100hp out of that engine without boost.
And I bet Yamaha could do it reliably

And honestly I had three great seasons on mine.(yes in the mountains, disregard my current locale)

Ya Fredly what up with your location? When did you move?
I was thinking we were going to get to pull the Phazer up some more hills again....?

Well my thoughts on the phazer were "good idea...bad application" I'm sure they work great on trails and in snow that is setup with a base, but what I noticed was it was 20-30 horse power short and that narrow track with a steep approach angle was like trying to get a mountain bike to float. I dearly love the Yamaha 4-strokes and that is why I bought the Phazer for my wife after having my RX-1 mod and now the Apex, but the Phazer just wouldn't cut it where we ride. I bought her an RMK 600 HO was absolutely amazed at how good of a rider she really was. I sent a letter to Yamaha expressing my disappointment and a factory rep called with in about a week and we discussed the issues we had with the Phazer.

Hmmmm....I see they are releasing models.....everything beyond that thought would definitely be called a "dream" in my book...that trailer didn't amount to any news, other than the date. I'm putting that in my blackberry to remind me right now!

the SHO supercharged watercraft engine would be awesome in a sled. but as far as a factory turbo...trust me, i know it wont happin. MM 700 have you heard how much horsepower the SHO is making? i dont think Yamaha has said yet?

Well, Arctic Cat has a factory turbo now. I can see Yamaha slipping behind in the 4 stroke market.
