Dear Yamaha 2010

I know some of the 09's have not hit the snow yet. BUT someone has to know of info for the 10's.

My advice

Dear Yamaha:

2010 Nytro MTX, or even 2011 just becasue of the late notice

Atleast 10 gal fuel tank

Do something with the rear of the tunnel.

Add atleast 10 hp.

Drop around 15lbs.

Now get to it Yamaha......PLEASE

I say build us a real mountain sled so we don't have to spend so much on mods to convert what yamaha calls a mountain sled into a real one. Don't get me wrong, I have a ton of fun on my stock nytro, but it just isn't in the same class as the others' mtn sleds when I get to the mountain.

nytro mtx= same maybe little more weight loss

apex mtx-> nytro chassis, with 150 hp (3 cyl), weight closer to nytro 550ish?
that would be nice, just my thoughts

Never, ever stop using the 4 cyl in the top end sled!!!
Take the tech. from the R1 bike and you have 180hp, shed some weight from the Apex (20-30lbs) with less complex design, more like the Nytro chassi without the crap running boards, look for ex. @ CR or VE tunnel, and you have the sled of the future!

A Apex with the good old 4 banger at around 160-170 HP a light skid 153 by 15 wide track and a frond end (look at bark busters) us a a muffler that does not weigh 50 pounds and we will have a Apex at around 500 pounds of pure fun. Oh Yes use a better track, a slightly softer and ported challenger extreme would do just fine. You could package that in the old Apex or Nitre frame I could not care less just get serious about weight loss.
There is no need to have any pig iron on a sled :face-icon-small-hap

Weight loss, weight loss weight loss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that is the biggest thing if Yamaha wants to build competitive mountain sleds. A few more ponies would be nice too but IMO the weight is the biggest thing keeping Yammi mountain sleds out of the game. Not everyone can afford a turbo to compensate. Don't get me wrong, I love my Nytro to death but I find that the more weight I can drop the better it performs and the happier I am. The reliability is awesome and having a sled that always gets back to the truck under its own power is worth a lot to me. However, having a sled that perfoms well is big too. IMO Yamaha is just a few pounds away from having that sled. Granted, the four-stroke engines put Yammi at a disadvantage right out of the gate but there are other ways to drop weight. There are all kinds of ways to do it. Rear suspension is a huge one. Just look at the Timbersled skid. The Nytro loses 38 lbs from that alone. IMO its entirely feasible for Yamaha to drop 50+ lbs from most if not all of their mountain sleds. Yamaha already has some awesome bulletproof engines and weight loss will go a very long way towards waking them up and allowing them to live up to their full potential. If Yamaha ever wants to be competitive in the non-boosted western market, they had better get off their butts and lose some weight

The only thing I have heard is a new chassis for the Apex. And that is just what I have read on other threads on SW.

Which would make sense, Apex chassis has been around a few years.

Baby steps:

Use a Real Track
update the nytro tunnel
add 15 hp across the board
lose 15lbs across the board

Considering how easy it is to pull 40# off AND make a MUCH nicer rear suspension, they should be able to do 40# EASY.
So, I'll "ask for":

50# lighter
~15 HP (put it into the lower 800 twin HP range)
Better suspension(s), valving, shocks
Stronger front end (fewer tweaked front ends) [They may have this one down already for 09?]
CE track options
A "mountain" style tunnel/extension setup
Undertunnel exhaust (I see absolutley no reason or need to dump above the tunnel?)

All easily possible, aside from maybe the HP thing...

dear yamaha 2010

please make us a single ski machine like the the snowhawk with a phazer 500 twin motor in it. light weight with lots of suspension travel for the bumps in the northeast. for the guys out west ,put a huge motor and a super long track to climb the steep and deep... thank you.go blue!!!

SUPERCHARGED SUPER HIGH OUTPUT ENGINE

Yamaha’s 1.8 liter, Supercharged, Super High Output engine is the largest ever in a PWC and 300cc’s larger than any other model. Compact and lightweight, it’s also 45 pounds lighter and packed with power to provide the best acceleration and top speed ever offered in a WaveRunner. Earning a 3-star low-emission rating, it is also the only engine in its category optimized to run on the least expensive regular unleaded fuel.

This powerplant might work. They have it in the watercraft.

the SHO supercharged watercraft engine would be awesome in a sled. but as far as a factory turbo...trust me, i know it wont happin. MM 700 have you heard how much horsepower the SHO is making? i dont think Yamaha has said yet?

Don't know HP on it. But I am sure they could wedge that in a sled chassis. Or make mods to the sled or motor to have it fit..or a similar motor designed for sleds

Anyway, they have the motor Supercharger allready. USE IT
