Dear season opens

Anyone tag out yet? I hit the snow show on saterday, but it's 10 till 4:00 now and off to see what I can find.

Had to skip the season last year, so I'm exited and a full freezer will be nice... if I'm lucky.

Hunted for 5 hours, chasing 3 bucks around a clear cut hoping to put a third point on one side, but no luck. Drove 2 hours to the show. Was dissapointed, mostly because I had no cash or even things I was looking to buy.

Drove 2 hours east again, and found 2 more bucks that also needed another year to get that third point.

All in all, a great day.

yeah, i thought by saying 'Dear' season. u meant its time to start taking care of the honey do list for your Dear so you can gain more free time to go play in the snow with your Dudes.

because, well.. that time is upon us as well.. score those points now fellas!

Hey it was like 4 in the morning on a sunday when I posted that, and I had not had any coffee yet.

DEER season has not been very productive, put on a few miles or more yesterday walking a few old haunts and was out this morning hunckered down by a stump waiting for day break but no luck ( but I did have to scrape ice off the windows this morning and the grass I was laying in was frosty. Seen a few does and chased a sizable buck until he became a mountain goat and headed into a canyon that I could not make it into.

Came into town, I'm visiting with my mom for a bit till dad gets off work then I'll hunt till dark tonight before driving back to my house late tonight. Heading out soon so maybe I'll jump a shooter.

Good luck out there guys/gals

Dear what Deer

Didnt attend the snow show this year as i decided head east from Maple Valley and get in some more dirt bike riding. Headed up to my cabin near Whistlin' Jacks with three other good riding buddies. We rode up to Manastash Ridge from Kaner Flats up to Peaches Ridge and made the loop past Mt Clifty and back down to the Little Naches. I did not see one hunter on the trails or watching over clear cut areas. We stopped quite a bit at different viewpoints along the way and still did not see any hunters. Some of the campsites were pretty empty up the Little Naches, Milk Creek and Gold Creek. Hell even Whistlin' Jacks was empty of hunters saturday night. It was beautiful riding weather but probably disappointing weather for deer hunters

Nice buck...... where the heck is the left horn????? It was warm this past weekend in the mtns. Kinda discouraging from a hunting standpoint. We all like the adverse weather either hunting or sledding.

I worked the show all weekend but my middle son got one!

Chevy, my middle son (15) went east with my buddy scott and my brother, he got lucky with a nice little white tail, One excited kid when he came home sunday night thats for sure, the one on the right is this years, the one on the left is a year or two back.

Looks like it broke off when he was in the velvet stage, would have been a real nice three point if it would not have broke, but I kind of like the oddity of it. I have shot a lot of deer but nothing unusual like this.

Weather was definitely warm during the day and cold in the tent at night.

Jet, congrats on your boys deer. It is always cool to see new hunters get their deer. My kids are still a little young but hopefully in the next few years they will be able to at least walk along. They were pretty excited to see the head and the meat hanging, so that is a start.
