David Shepherd Tribuite Video

He was doing things right to be able to hold all those hill climb titles. Sorry for your loss.

Great video! Your dad was a great racer and competitor in the Rmsha circut. Love to watch him race learnded alot from him when I first started racing. He is greatly missed!!

Thanks for posting the video! One of the true icons of our sport! Never met him, but wish I had! You brought back alot of great memories for all the people that knew him and loved him!

Toby I watched your dad ride at Jackson a few times over the years, and had the chance to meet and compete with him in BC. once. He was a blast to watch on a sled, and always nice to talk to. You can be very proud to say that David Shepherd is my dad!

I was thinking...I'm pretty sure I watched him at the Marshall Mountain climbs in Missoula back in 97-01 seasons when they had those events.

I had the privalage and honour of meeting him At the Silver Star Hill climb back in the day when the BCSF race div. hosted the hillclimb there.....Awsome to watch him Race....Even nicer guy to meet in person.

BC.

RIP Dave

I just showed this vid to my Dad Ward Barnes who had the privilege to race with him.

I had no idea that he passed away.
I bought a 96 Polaris 800 storm rmk from him when I was 18. I drove up from NV into Pocatello (sp) to meet him, but last minute he couldn't make the delivery himself and sent his father down with the sled.
I stayed in contact with him for the next 2 years, only because this was a big deal for an 18 year old to be talking to a racer, he never once blew a pesky 18 year old off. I went and saw him race at Mount Rose hillclimb that year as he had told me to look for a truck and large trailer that had his name plastered on the side of it and I was welcome. Years before I even knew who he was I watched David at the kirkwood hillclimb.
That was a great video!!

I kicked around the hill climb circuit during the 90's. David Shepherd was the best rider I ever saw. For the younger crowd when you watch this video remember he was pushing a storm up those hills in most of them. As heavy as a sherman tank, and handled almost as well.
On a personal note, I never look a steep snow loaded slope ready to slide for the last 10 years and not think of Dave Shepherd. I have stayed safe in many situations thinking about the fact he was the best rider I ever saw, so much better than me, yet a slide still got him. If he can't out ride it, I for sure can't so I stayed off.
Thanks for the post.
