David Shepherd Tribuite Video

He was truly amazing to watch. I was at Kirkwood years ago going to give it a shot a hillclimbing. I was a amatuer but had to race in his class. We were setting in the pits waiting to race and somebody wanted to interview him. His sled was the wrong direction so Dave and somebody else just picked up the sled and turn it around. They picked it up like it was a toy. I talked to him acouple of times and he was always nice to talk to.

Nice tribute, thanks for sharing. I forgot how short tracks were back then!!

Never got to see him race in person, but heard some stories. Would be sweet to hear one of those old straight piped mods screamin up Jackson like that. Courses are too tight anymore to hear 15 seconds of WOT. Good times, great vid. Thx

Nice tribute! It is true bout those ole triples, a good tuned one was music to your ears. They have really had to change the course from those days to accomodate the new eqpt.

Thank you Toby. I met your Dad in 1990 at his shop in Jackson,Montana.I was elk hunting at the time around there and we became freinds, and stayed in touch along with seeing him a couple times a year. The first time that I watched him climb Jackson Hole I truly realized that he was in a league of his own.He was a great man and I miss him to this day. When things would get a little tough in life he would always tell me to keep my head up. He always made my life more positive. Thanks again.

I was there to watch some of those runs, the camera actually makes it look easier than real life....steep and rough.

Oh wow...I wondered when I saw your username if you were related to Dave Shepherd. COOL.

Fantastic vid.

We've stopped at Shepherd's Garage in Jackson before...our buddy had an XLT burndown back in 98 or so. They fixed it that weekend and got us back up to the Grasshopper where we were staying. GREAT guys. I was REALLY saddened when I got the news of his death.

I love that vid...back in the days of the "open" chassis.
This isn't David...but it's old school...and back in the good ole days....

That's a great tribute, and a great memory. Makes me think of all the guys that I thought were just gods. Way sweet to see those bare boned buckets of bolts screamin up the hill. THANK YOU

i still have my yr 2000 factory racing jacket. he was smooth and fast, and had a lot of answers for us southlanders.
