Here in MT the F.W.P. and F.S. govern snowmobiling. They plan on setting up check stations to give sobriety tests. My ? is can they stop you and test you without probable cause. I think they can ticket you just as if you were in your car or boat or cycle. Dino
agree, I usually pack a few beers when ridin, sit and drink one when we have lunch or if were digging sleds out all day. Gettin drunk while riding is dumb
I dont think the check point is cool. Not a bad idea but just another way of the gov watching over me.
I have a C.D.L....if I was to be givein a D.U.I. my license is toast right there and then, and my employer would have a tough time keeping me employed. As for the check points they dont set them up except at poker rides or large group events. DinoMost insurance companies will rate it as a major violation. Just as a DUI or driving on a suspended license is a Major violation on your license. Had a guy get an open container on a bicycle have it treated as a major. You are on a public transportation route occupied by others that you can cause harm to and be held liable for due to alcohol consumption. You are thus a higher risk.
State of Idaho is in Murry nailing us for outta state tags, State of MT is on the MT side nailing us for tags and DUI. And yes we try not to ride to Murry on the weekend, great food and great hosts, we try to patronize during the week. DinoI think its an excellent idea. First place they ought to do it is Thompson Pass on a weekend.
