I believe that's a cane plant, Dracaena genus, it takes very little water.

Signs of over water is the leaf tips die back,it's a tropical plant that thrives in well drained soil. Lava preferable but lava is illegal to take off of islands.

They are a tough plant if properly taken care of and if managed can grow to twenty feet, usually they are restricted from planting practices or die off from over watering.

They are all over the place up here and are shipped in of course. The plants soil was lava but is listed under a different classification.

Removing lava is forbidden, it's a cultural thing and has a 5,000 dollar fine.

Did I not mention plants were potted with this stuff?
