Cyclists-are you a pedestrian or a car?

Wow, you know I can appreciate someone wanting to ride a bicycle on the road to commute, but........I can't stand the cyclists who want the best of both worlds.
Riding up to a 4 way stop, SOME of them swing into the crosswalk without dismounting to blow thru the stop signs.
Driving in the middle of the road holding up traffic, when everyone finally gets past them, they ride up the hard shoulder at the next light, get in front, and do it all over again?
If I rode a bike up the middle of the road in rush hour wearing a spandex suit and aerodynamic helmet, I'd fully expect the guy in the Ford Super Duty behind me to follow me and beat the s%#t out of me.
I think he would be within his rights, no? lol.

I started riding road bikes last summer to get in shape.. (didnt ride enough though) but, yeah.. your right, some of those guys dont give a damn at all. I see those guys go right through stop signs and cause cars to lock brakes up and all. I dont understand it at all..

Try driving through a college campus...

They not only blow stop signs but I am pretty sure they try to get ran over.

Then you get out of your car after parking pissed off because you just got cut off by a bike, and one of them almost runs you over as you are walking.

I was driving through town yesterday, and here is this drunk bookin down the middle of the town by-pass on his crafty little 10 speed with the handle bars turned up. Must of followed him for a couple hundred feet until he turned off on a street.

But the road racer guys..... they are always on the right hand side, and wait in traffic when they get to lights. Chit.... they pull out and pass you in some places. These guys I pull over to the left for when i go by them.

i hate thoughs gay, spandex wearing h omo's! always trying to ride on the white line, then they wonder why they get run over! idiots.

I hate the ones in the road.... sidewalk's there for a reason.

In most cities it's illegal to ride a bike on the sidewalk. They are supposed to ride on the shoulder of the road. The problem is that most cities don't make their shoulders big enough.

I will admit that a bicyclist on the sidewalk is more of a danger for pedestrians than he is for cars on the road.

thats nothing ...we got them pricks doin the same thing in the middle of winter up here .....the way I see it if it too dangerous for a motorized bike then them other idiots should be forced to park ...

dangerous, inconsiderate, wolf saving, tree huggin .....__________

Anyone that can't follow the rules of the road or keep up with traffic shouldn't be out there. I work in Portland, one of the greenest, tree hugginist places on the planet. The riders here cite the rules when they can benefit but for the most part don't abide by them.

At least two people have died locally because they rode up on the right side of a turning commercial truck with it's signal on. While I feel bad that it happened, they've got to realize that these trucks can't even see small cars on their right half of the time so regardless of who may have the right of way, the bike's going to lose. Ride defensively or you're going to die.

My sister was hit on her bike by a smartcar (go figure, it's Portland) that ran a red light last year. It was treated like a normal traffic accident, he was cited because he was in the wrong and she was in a lane keeping up with traffic. If she would have been in the wrong though, then what? Are bicyclists required to carry liability insurance? If you operate a "vehicle" on the road, isn't it mandatory?

yeah and if I squish some idiot with my trailers cuz he doesn't have a mandatory ...I think ..flag ....10 feet tall on the back of the bike..I kill him ..spend days in court yad yada yadad

Cyclists that ride in or near the traffic lanes are tree hugging fags that want to make it a point that you see how they are trying to help the world by biking!

Ride on the side walk and let us freedom loving, gas burning, single occupant large truck driving people get to work.

In Colorado and most states that I know of, there is no flag required.

At night they are required to have a tail light and a headlamp.

Milehigh.... Is the helmet law in place there at all?

I guess I understand it for kids but I think once you get a little older, should be personal choise.....

Yep. If you do it follow the damned rules of the road, yield to faster bigger stuff too!

I may make a paddle for this summer as I'm driving. I know a few have been spared my rath since the daughter was in the car.

What gets me all riled up is the Greg Lamond/Lance Armstrong wannabe's out there who feel it is their right to be on the road, but refuse to follow the simple rules. Here in MN we have a share the road policy with the cyclist, but there are rules that they are supposed to follow. Things like stop for a stop sign, etc. While there are those who do many just do not obey the rules of the road. A local TV station had a story about this a week ago.

They videoed guys just blowing through stop signs. When the confronted the riders they used lame excuses like i did not see the sign etc...

Personally I think that if they want to use the roads they should have to license the bikes and pay a road wheelage tax.

Wow didnt know I was tree hugging fag. Rode the Mtn bike to work across town in the summer, Could get to work 5 min faster on the bike and save some coin ( Big Block 400 in a 77 blazer sucked the gas) Would follow the laws and still would almost get hit once a week by some Azzhat not paying attention on the road.
