Cutting track windows & not clipping ?!

I bought a brand new 2" track with every 3rd window clipped. I plan on fully clipping it. But its gunna be a little while till I can get a clip tool. I'd really like to cut the windows out before I install the track, and I'd really like to install the track soon.

Do you guys think there would be any problems with running the track with the windows opened and no clips in them?
Myself... I don't see how it would be a problem, just looking for some opinions!

I am NOT running anti ratchet drivers!!

Should be fine

I've never had a problem yet, and my track is set up the way you are describing, only difference is mine is also ported, and I'm running anti-ratchet drivers. Mine is the original track that came on the sled in '04, and since day one has been powered by a 910.

So with the anti ratchets you are actually driving through the open windows, that aren't clipped? Correct?!

Yes, that is correct. It didn't seem like a very good idea to me, but I was persuaded that it would be fine, and it has been. The only wear and tear my track shows is a few places a little rubber has come off where the rear big wheels run. Oh, and I have no mid rollers what-so-ever on my skid, just hyper-fax.
Hope this helps.

the polaris pro has an anti ratchet stock just one in the center of the track. no clips at all.

i bought a 166 a few years back it was a pace 3 like yours. you need to cut the wnidows before you put it on or there will be alot of swearing. i did mine on some saw horses. roll the track so the closed window is on the horse and have a good sharp one inch chistle and hammer and a box knife with a few good blades.
its no fun what so ever and i find little black squares all over the yard to this day
i did clip mine after words but not fully. i was looking at my xp at the time and noticed its only clipped every other so i just added one clip every other on the 166

the problem with not clipping a pace 3 is the rubber acts like a squeegie. you need the clips to help cool or lube the hyfax

Cool thanks guys. I plan on clipping it. But I definitely wanna cut the windows before I install the track. I'm willing to sacrifice some hyfax at first. clips will come soon.

How was it to install the clips with the track on the sled? I assume you used one of the press type tools and an impact wrench?!

Another question..... there are embossed areas where the rest of the windows should be. Those embossed areas are about 1/4" smaller than the windows that are already cut out.... should I follow the pattern of the embossment or cut the new windows the same size as the factory ones??? It would be much easier to get them uniform if I cut along the stamped areas!

NO IMPACT just a ratchet overtightening will cut the fiberglass rods and bulge the rubber. its not bad with the ratchet. just watch how tight you get them its a learn as you go type thing. youll be fine. its way easier with the track out
